To Miranda's credit.... He KO'd Howard Eastman in the 7th He gave Arthur Anderson perhaps the roughest fight of his life He downed Willie Gibbs in a single round ( Heck with a single punch ) He dominated Allan Green for all but a single round. He fought a war with Pavlik(who is now the MW Champ) and was competitive for at least 3 of the first 5 rounds. Lacking in defense he may be, but he's still an extremely dangerous fighter to get in the ring with. He's been claiming that he was weight drained (18 pounds over weight a few days before?) and unprepared for the Pavlik fight(he thought Pavlik would be easy?). That may be but if so its his own fault. (Personally I think Pavlik would have beaten him regardless. Miranda had no answer for Pavlik's fight plan.) If it's available on any station I have access to I'll watch the fight. ( Even though I'm 100% sure that Miranda-Porras is a tune up fight and likely won't be that close. )
It will be shown in syndication on the Broadway Boxing series. It's not being shown live. As far as I know, Broadway Boxing is only shown on MSG and NESN, though it might be picked up by FSN in other places as well.
yes it is supermiddle and Miranda weighed in almost two pounds over at 169.25. I have a question about this. Is there a universal limit on how much a fighter can weigh over the limit???? Sounds funny but we all see it happen. Just curious though.
Nice summary, Booklord. Miranda is an exciting fighter with good power. Having him back in action is good for the sport, and there is no way he should be written off because of his loss to Pavlik.
