Miranda is a nobody at 168 who brings little to the table for Kessler

Miranda is barely top 10 at SMW and that solely on the basis of what we all hope he can do rather than on the basis of what he has done. After all, so far, the only thing he's done is lose every time he's stepped up against Top 10 competition. The best he's beaten is Allan Green, but that was at MW. Now, Green is not a top 10 fighter at 168...he just ain't. He might be close and he might have the talent but he just ain't; too flawed!

So, at 168, Miranda has beaten Porras and Banks! Great!

Let's assume Miranda is Top 10, just, at 168 though. So what else does he bring to the table, except for a big mouth that would be useful in hyping and selling the fight?

    Well...Miranda brings to the table:
    • barely top 10 fighter
    • good fight hyper/seller
    • exciting puncher
What Miranda does NOT bring to the table:
    • belt
    • a strong top 10 claim (he is still unproven at 168)
    • one win at least over a top 10 opponent
    • good resume
    • a lot of money on the table.
So...why should Kessler fall over himself to fight Miranda when he is probably working on getting in with Taylor or Wright?

Obviously, if he cannot get these two to fight him and since Bute and Mundine are not willing to fight him either, sure, he needs to fight Miranda...but that's because he doesn't have better options, not because Miranda brings a lot to the table.

Ultimately, however, the reason Kessler might end up fighting Miranda is not for what Miranda is, pr for what he brings to the table, but because he's overrated/overhyped in America and because figthing him is what it will take to build a good relationship with the American networks.

So...let's not forget what the American networks bring to the table:
    • overrated/overhyped fall guy for Kessler to look good against
    • relationship building step for Kessler to become known and accepted in the USA
What the American networks bring to the table is more than what Miranda himself brings to the table, against Kessler. This is why Kessler will take the fight, if he cannot get a better one, not because beating Miranda will mean much.

I must say Edison Miranda has very good power but his ordinary skills will always be his downfall ! Against journeymen...he'll always look brilliant but versus the elite he'll look like a good journeyman himself !!

On the other hand, Warrior Promotions have hyped him up over the last 2 years like no other..I give them props for certainly banking in on that pretty soon !!

I think Miranda is a good oponent for him to take. He beats him fairly comfortably imo, and Miranda is known as an exciting puncher by all boxing fans. Its better to come back and fight a name, which Miranda is than a complete nobody, it will get people talking again.

If not Miranda, an Allan Green or Andrade someone recognized but beatable.

I think it will be an entertaining fight and an exciting win for a fighter looking to steady himself after the worst beating of his career.

Great move on his part in my opinion. If he looks convincing in winning people will also start to talk about him and Pavlik.

Was he? Not in my book he wasn't. How could he be top 10? Because he beat Donny McCrary? Come on! He was overhyped and overrated big time!

    Sorry Decebal...horrible argument mate
Miranda has been beaten by two legitimate champs and is showing that he IS a legitimate force at 168
like it or not there arent too many fighters that would be so bent on fighting Miranda
To what Both bring to the table......neither have a belt and both have a comparable resumes with Kesslers being abit stonger
It would be a good fight for both fighters....credible, win or lose a good name for either fighter to have on their resume:good
I hate it when you get in these anti-boxing moods:lol:
Lets not forget it would be a good fight for everyone including us
Miranda is on a short list of people I think would fight Kessler

We can argue over how good Miranda is, but fact is he is a recognized name in boxing and an exciting puncher. its not like Kessler is world champion anymore, Miranda isnt asking for a title shot, just a fight.

Its a good fight aswel, I cant see why the Kessler camp wont take it...

    Kessler UD.

Yes, it is, pipe wrenched! It does! I cannot stand it when a proven great fighter and great human being is brought down by a big mouth who hasn't done **** and who calls out and badmouths his better just to make a name for himself, having failed to make a name for himself in the ring twice when he had the kind of chances most fighters would kill for - against Pavlik and Abraham!:deal

It makes ALL the sense in the world!

Kessler LOST his last fight. There are no current champions that want to face him, and he may not yet deserve it anyway. What Mikkel does want is a good win in the USA against a well known, well hyped name. Who better than Edison Miranda?

HBO has offered very very fair money for this fight. Kessler gets what many consider an easy opponent with great exposure on USA TV. A win makes him big here and a big money fight is bound to follow. It will put him right back where he was before the loss, but with much more USA hype.

For Miranda, it gives him the opportunity to prove weight was his only issue fighting Pavlik. A win over Kessler may very well prove his excuse to be true and give him great exposure in Europe where fans already know him from his controversal loss to Abraham.

The winner of this fight gets huge in both USA and Europe and puts them on top of the SMW division and ALL fans will be demanding them get the biggest fights. A win win for everybody, including the fans. What else could you possibly want?

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Kessler
    3. Bute
    4. Mundine
    5. Taylor
    6. Froch
    7. Inkin
    8. Andrade
    9. Bika
    10. Tsypko
    11. Miranda

But Braehmer and Stieglitz have a better claim to being ranked 11th than Miranda, on the basis of what they've done.
