    I am almost certain that Miranda wouldn't have called Kessler out if the US networks hadn't OKed the fight. I am also almost certain Kessler will accept if that's what the US networks want, if he cannot get a more worthy opponent by the deadline.:deal

    I just can't see this fight making sense for Miranda. He will get owned in a bad bad prison shower kinda way... I'm baffled:nut

    Miranda doesn't have that many options. If he wants to continue being in with the TV networks, he has to take the fights they want him to take.

    This is why it Makes sense for Miranda to make the fight:

    • US TV network money...a lot of it
    • US TV network support in future if he performs well, even if he loses, in exchange for making Kessler known and rated in the USA.
    • a good performance against Kessler could get him to become rated in the Top 10 more easily
    • he gets to act tough for daring to call out Kessler - publicity and hype as the "fearless warrior"
    • he becomes better known in Europe by having his name associated with that of Kessler
    • if, by some miracle, he wins...he becomes a serious force in boxing
    And if Kessler doesn't fight him, because he makes a better fight, Miranda will keep on shouting from the rooftops he was ducked by Kessler, who was afraid of his power - free publicity and a lot more hype...makes him even more of a tradable commodity.

    If he loses to Kessler, no one will say: ah, he was exposed, because no one expects him to win in the first place. He only has a puncher's chance if that, and he trades on that.

    It's a win-win for Miranda, whether this fight happens or not.

    Good points!

    I just think that a loss will hurt him much more than you think. He is a fighter most of the casual fans will actually pick to win and when he loses he will loose fans as well.

    Nah...he lost to Pavlik and Abraham...his fans will find an excuse again. Also, Kessler will become highly rated: "He lost to the best SMW in the world!"

    Worst case scenario: his fans say: "at least he has the balls to fight the best, win or lose, giving his all. Good for boxing!" They would be right!

    I for one do like Miranda, and yeah he did lose two rounds vs Banks.. I can see him beating Froch, Inkin and have a close one with Mundine. Bute, Kessler and Taylor will beat him, Kessler with ease.

    There was no offer. I dont think HBO has an interest in Bute right now. And it is a known fact that Bute wants easy opponents. I cant blame him. Until HBO decides to put big money his way, why would he face someone that could lay him out with one punch? He is going to enjoy his belt, fight in his backyard, and get some easy wins. I expect him next year to look elsewhere and get the bigger money American TV would give him.

    Without HBO, Miranda vs Bute will never happen.
