Thanks, mate! So, when is Kessler v. Mundine supposed to happen?:huh

    Does Mundine still fight Soliman?

If this is true, then why the hell are they trying to initiate an negotiation with Miranda?

I am not in doubt that facing Mundine is both a tougher fight, and revolves around a belt - but why this detour with Miranda?

    Makes no sense at all.

Does Mundine even want to face Kessler yet again? Didn't he like decline 6 months ago, when Kessler had several belts? What will Mundine gain from this now? Of course he could be forced to or be stripped, but this must have been something Palle knew beforehand.

I agree with you here. Why negotiate a fight if you are actually thinking of another fight? This just doesn't make sense. After giving Kessler's camp a lot of concessions they still backed out. That's bs.

Danny Green retires and vacates WBA LHW belt

Mundine's mandatory moves up to fight for the vacant WBA LHW belt

Kessler steps in as Mundine's mandatory

    Mundine definately wants the rematch

Okay, now it seems to be confirmed from two sides then. Great move by Braehmer.

I don't think he has any choice anymore. If he had wanted to fight Kessler, he could have done it already but declined to do so, when Kessler called him out. Was it because it would only have counted as a voluntary defence, because Kessler was ranked No.2 rather than 1? No:nono - Braehmer, if offered the title shot would have made an excuse - he cannot beat Mundine and he was fancying his chances for the 168 WBO title more...now that Green's vacated, he's given up even on that one! So...Mundine could have asked the WBA to make the Kessler fight a mandatory defence, and it woul have happened because Braehmer would have agreed too. But he didn't, preferring instead to fight some more Top 50 guys and talking-up a Solman rematch at the same time...

Well, now he's pretty much forced to fight Kessler, so he might as well say he wants the fight...

when did Kessler offer Mundine a rematch, and Mundine decline?

doubtful. You don't become mandatory challenger for the belt by accident, a boxer do not give up this status easily, unless he is guaranteed that there is a better opportunity for him, which means that Mundine would have had to defend against Braehmer

Kessler couldn't have offered a rematch; Kessler asked for a rematch on several occasions, but, obviously, not Miranda style. Mundine pretended not to hear him and said he was ducked by everyone!

Kessler has been trying to get either a rematch with Calzaghe, a shot at Bute or a rematch at Mundine ever since his defeat, amongst other things. Calzaghe said No, Bute said: perphaps in a year or so, Mundine said he needed to fight Soliman because it was in the contract and that he was being ducked by everyone, whilst fighting Argentinian Top 50 guys.

If the WBA had not forced this fight upon him, he'd never have considered fighting Kessler again. If you ask teke, he'll say: Of course Mundine wants a rematch, but his manager doesn't so it's not happening...I'm not buying that...but, now, it doesn't matter. Kessler is finally getting the rematch!:D

here's an article from the BBC, 1 year after his loss to Kessler, where Mundine explicitly says he wants a rematch.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/4992276.stm

    Mundine targets Kessler rematch

Australia's Anthony Mundine wants another crack at Denmark's Mikkel Kessler's WBA super middleweight title after his latest victory.

The former champion and ex-rugby league player beat Danny Green by a unanimous points decision in front of 30,000 people at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The fight also set a new Australian record for TV pay-per-view revenue.

Kessler has yet to agree another bout with Mundine, who he defeated on points in June 2005.

"It was a close fight last time, he's a great fighter," said the 30-year-old.

"I think he's the best out there at the moment, but I showed in the first fight that I can match it with him."

Mundine improved his record to 26-3 by beating Green, whose two previous losses were in WBC title bouts against Markus Beyer.

The pair first began verbal sparring six years ago, when Mundine first discussed switching from rugby league to boxing.

Green, 33, said: "A lot has been said in the past, but he just fought a better fight, he just beat me fair and square."

Braehmer didn't mention he wanted a shot at Mundine ever, and he's been No.1 for many, many months...He was always going to prefer going the WBO route, where he was No 1 too...But now that the LHW opportunity arose, he's going that route, even though he isn't highly ranked and it could take him a while to get there. Please explain that! Why would he give up his No 1 slot at SMW with the WBA to chase a distant shot at the WBA LHW title?? Does that suggest he was desperate to fight Mundine?

This is useless. Mundine has called Calzaghe out too! Made him a $1m offer to fight in Ozz, I think :rofl :rofl :rofl

This proves nothing, mate, except that Mundine is pretending he wants the big fights to save face with his fans and to buy time to allow him to fight Top 50 guys...

    whatever

Mundine calls out for a Kessler rematch on TV, and you say "Mundine would never consider fighting Kessler again"

    :huh

His fans were putting great pressure on him to fight either Calzaghe or Kessler. He had to make a move not to lose face. Remember, his ultimate aim was to fight Green for the LHW WBA title, with Soliman as a stop-gap fight, after the Argentinians, to shut everyone up. But now that Green is out of the picture, what else can he do? Especially since Kessler's become No.1 contender with Braehmer suddenly moving up?

At best, Mundine woul have fought Soliman, Winky and Green. At best. But certainly no Kessler. He'll lose again!

that Miranda is so overhyped it makes me sick. What has he really done so far that allows him to have such a big mouth? Don't bring up that Abraham fight, he couldn't finish a badly hurt Abraham when he had 7 rds to do so, period. He did not really deserve to win that one. Green was overrated all along, Eastman was over the hill. His fight with Pavlik was exciting, but the outcome speaks for itself. I would have loved to see Kessler shut him up, but I fully understand that Kessler choses bigger and better fights than against Miranda, who hasn't earned a fight with Kessler anyway.

On the other side, Kessler has proven that he is a very good fighter
