Miranda has been stopped twice. By Pavlik and Abraham. Both are well known KO artists.

If a fighter was stopped by Hearns at 147 then Jackson at 154, what would be the reading on his chin?

If Miranda had been stopped by lesser fighters or fighters with lesser power, then I would be more concerned.

i'm just objecting to you saying "most KO punchers have weak chins".
i trhink it's too much of a generalisation because i think too many fighters gain notoriety from KO'ing lesser mortals.

i'll be interested to see what people have to say about margarito if cotto does a number on him too.

It all depends on how well the shots were landed. In this case - the Miranda-Abraham fight - to me, those weren't perfectly landed shots, but still made Miranda buckle.

So to answer your question - going down to a great shot, no matter if the boxer is featherfisted, doesn't automatically make his chin weak in my mind, but more how well the shot was delivered.

To turn your question - just because you get KO'd by a KO artist, doesn't relieve you of having a questionable chin either.

Being one-dimensional or a bad fighter doesn't make your chin weak.

Yes, alot of fighters gain notoriety for blasting tomato cans - some even still KOs fighters after they step up to the plate - and in many cases, those very same fighters suffers from weak chins themselves.

Margo has already proven he can take a punch from top notch punchers.

Obviously. But Miranda has not been stopped by other fighters with power. So if I were to err on one side, it would be to say his chin is decent and he has been stopped by heavy handed fighters.

To be fair, I have not seen the fight tonight, so I have no idea how Abraham stopped him. Perhaps I will change my mind. But Abraham hits like a mule....

The only other fighter I can think of is Howard Eastman(didn't see that fight though), but he went down to Allen Green as well. Alright, all three(4) are great punchers, but going down to all save one, must still make you think - especially when it doesn't happen after many rounds of pugilistic onslaught.

Could lesser men make Miranda go to the canvas? I do believe so, if they have more skill than Porras or the like.

I need to rewatch the fight in 30 mins, but as it is now, I don't believe that the shots from AA were devastating.

Exactly. These hardly looked like crushing blows, and yet Miranda hit the deck three times. And he's been stopped before. A pattern is starting to develop. My guess is he's gonna get starched some more before it's all said and done.:yep

And whoever said that there seems to be a pattern of hard-hitting Columbian fighters with shaky chins hit the nail on the head. It seems most of the Columbian fighters I've heard of lately fit this pattern.

The Green KD was a flash KD where Miranda was off balance. He wasn't hurt or even stunned IMO. I don't really find those types of KD to indicate much about chin quality.

I know alot of people are going to disagree with me, but based on what I've seen, I think he hits harder. And he has a better chin. I would favor him against Pavlik.

make sure to watch replay of the first knock down(shown during the interview from different angle). i thought the left hand sent him to canvas but it was the right hand that did all the damage

i agree with you. it would definitely be a difficult fight since pavlik's a huge middleweight with skills, but i think abraham's punch and chin give him the edge.
