I thought Miranda looked like he was impelmenting some new skills. Grant it, the guy wasn't a "A" class fighter but I think he showed some improvments in his overall game. He needs to have some more time with Goosen for me to make a final call on if he's gonna be a top guy at 168. More head movement, lead rights, angles and better "D". Miranda is a talented kid with some insane power in the right hand. He's young, hungry and hella dangerous, but very limited skill wise and very raw. THat's what makes him exciting. I hope Miranda reaches his full potential under some new guidance.
Miranda is a decent fighter but he will never be elite. It is just too late in the game to really refine him all that much, and he probably doesn't have the physical talent some here think he possesses. He is a heavy handed guy, but he just lacks the skill or fluidity to do much with it. He will always be able to compete with the guys just below the top ten, and will be able to dispatch a fair number of decent middling sort fighters, but he is not at the top.
That was a nice Carl Froch Special there at the end to seal the fight. I love Miranda. It's a shame he doesn't have more skill so that he could compete at the top level.
Skill can be developed but Miranda type punching power is genetic. I don't really like Goosen as a trainer but if Miranda seems to think he benefits from their coaching, more power to him.
Sierra barely cracks the top 115-120, boo. This is a good win, great for Pantera's confidence, but needs not to be blown out of proportion. Panchito is nowhere near as good as his record indicates. It's way more deceptive than, say, Giovanni Andrade's. :deal
I don't think Miranda has the natural boxing ability to be great but he certainly has the NATURAL power to make it fun while it lasts. He will never be a smooth boxer, he doesn't need to really; what he needs to learn how to impose his strengths on guys a bit better and be just good enough on defense to avoid getting ktfo every other fight to extend his shelf life.
