Who's gonna win this match-up? Huge step up in class for Ward.

ward has some real good alround skills and foot/hand speed, but he is not elsusive enough not to get hit by miranda
and dont think he will be able to keep it going once he taste the power
sooner rather than later it will be lights out for ward

ward does not have enough power to keep the monster off him

andre ward...former u.s. olympian, super-middleweight, the less flashy, more technical, lesser known counterpoint to andre dirrell.

i'll tell you what though, if micky ward came out of retirement to fight edison miranda...i couldn't help but be into it in a big way. haha.

i am glad ward is taking this step up in class and testing himself a bit. that said, i think that this is smart matchmaking by ward's team. miranda is one of the most limited and exposed fighters out there who has as much name recognition as he does. miranda, on the strength of flashy knockouts of tomato cans and his first war with abraham, has stayed famous despite being numerously exposed as a second-tier contender level fighter without the raw athleticism or chin to back up his swagger and plodding, looping, wild, straight line habits in the ring. a popular,

name fighter with the relatively low level of boxing skill and easily solvable style and easily exploitable vulnerabilities of miranda is the perfect mark for ward to put a clinic on with his sound fundamental, technical boxing, speed and economy of precise punches. and if, by some chance, ward gets banged up and dropped or stopped, the 'well, miranda is a top, dangerous puncher' excuse is built right in and loaded with justifications for second chances. a smart move.

miranda is tough and very physically strong, but he can be hurt, slowed down, confused by clever boxing. ward's chin has not been tested yet, really, so i will be curious to see what happens if and when miranda tags him with one of those looping, windmill rights. ward will have to tough out spots even if he boxes circles around miranda, so that will be good experience too, i think.

i'll be watching. this should be fun.

I agree completely. I was extremely excited when I heard about this fight. I know Ward was having a hard time finding an opponent. They supposedly had two or three other offers rejected. I was worried he wouldn't be able to find a name opponent considering the fight is only 5 weeks away. But Miranda is just that. A big name who should play into Ward's hands. Ward just needs to avoid Miranda's power early and he should be okay. This would be a big win for Ward. Much needed name on his resume if he wins.
