my tendency is to want to agree with you on that. however, i cannot shake the memory of sitting in the stands at bute v. andrade and watching a guy who is slow as pancake syrup and technically unsound without great power knock bute out and have the knockout thrown out by shameful hometown refereeing. miranda is, i think, marginally better than andrade, at least--his chin isn't nearly as good, but bute doesn't have much power either--and has the power to put bute down.

    He's not better than Andrade.

Miranda is good to throw huge crude windmill punches for 3 or 4 rounds. After that he is a spent force. That is all he offers, and his own chin is questionable as we've seen.

Andrade is not a great boxer, but he's relentless for 12 rounds and will never stop coming and is difficult to shake off nevermind hurt.

Miranda is one of the most overrated fighters I have ever seen! To think some people were accusing Kessler of ducking this guy? He has done nothing at super middle, is an exciting fighter to watch but not top level and will always get his arse kicked by any top fighter.

I think you are being a little harsh. His two loses are to Pavlik and Abraham. He put up a decent fight againt Pavlik and took a lot of punshiment. His first fight with Abraham was arguably a robbery, although the second proved to be a total domination by Abraham.

Either way, he has beat all other that he has faced. Green and Eastman were both dangerous top 10-20 opponents (especially Eastman at the time he fought them).

Will he ever beat a guy like Kessler, Bute, Taylor.... That will remain to be seen. However, I agree, without an improvement on defense and less relying on the big right hand, he is gonna have a tough time.

I am still a huge fan. I love his style and he comes to fight.

Maybe I am a bit to be fair. I don't doubt he is exciting, good to watch and comes to fight. It's just all the numb nuts banging on about what a great fighter he is and how such and such is terrified of him on the back of a couple of KOs of nothing opposition that grate with me. Eastman and Green were good wins agreed. I think he is a top ten fighter for sure but not good enough to beat the true elites (Kessler or Taylor would beat him, he would have the puncher's chance against Bute but would probably lose that too). He should shoot for Andrade or Bika if he's fighting at 168, or maybe go after a shot at Froch if he can pull the upset vs Taylor.

If he's fighting at 175, I don't see him being successful there against guys who are big enough to take his shots and smart enough to fire back with good ones.
