Last night, a legend of Mixed Martial Arts made his retirement.

Prime Mirko would cause havoc on all UFC HW's today....unfortunately, father time has come and his body cannot take the abuse anymore. Truly a legend in his style and his character, motivation, and just the shear profesionalism he processed just made him even more special every time he entered the ring.

    We will miss you Mirko!!

although he is my favourite all-time fighter, i didn't actually get the ppv yesterday. i just didn't want to see him lose badly once again.
however i've read reports that he acquitted himself ok in the end[even though he lost], is that true?

at least he was a well loved fighter. i've always noticed that whenever he entered the stadium the noise went up by quite a lot of decibals! more so than for many other fighters.

i hope he does a tv interview at some stage.

He had a decent round 1, and a good round 2 i'm sure...but he was done by the last round. Nelson took some good punches(uppercuts) from Mirko, full respect to him, but he shouldn't be gloating by defeated a old legend. Mirko prime would of whiped his ass. Mirko just doesn't have it anymore.

Yeah he did OK. He was well beaten in the end but he certainly didn't disgrace himself. He had some good moments in both round 1 and round 2, and he landed a headkick for old time's sake. He also rocked Nelson badly with his fists early in the second round and had Roy covering up against the cage while Mirko flurried and landed several good clean shots, including a couple of hard body punches.

All in all he certainly had nothing to apologize to the fans for, he put on a good scrap against a solid fighter. Roy Nelson is no joke and if he didn't have an A+ chin then Mirko could well have come away with a KO victory. A lot of guys would have been stopped by the punches Mirko landed against the cage early in the second.

I was the same as you, I was hoping he didn't get embarrassed, but he made it a competitive fight. Nelson had the better of it most of the time, but tomorrow he will wake up bruised and hurting from quite a few solid punches that Cro-Crop landed on him. :good

Glad to see him hang them up. It was hard to watch him recently.

He sort of lost the instinct. He had Big Country in all kinds of trouble and wasn't able to finish it. He threw one left leg to country's body, one to the head that I saw, but he was open to legs to the body all night.

Always great to see his highlights though. Man he was something else, most dangerous single weapon MMA has ever seen is still a prime Crocop left leg. He used to be able to throw it without really setting it up, and it would just come out of nowhere.

i've never understood why he just didn't use his kicks a lot more in the ufc? that was his most dangerous weapon, why would he stop?
