I don't believe in that sort of nonsense. You can't just write all of his losses off as not being focused. I mean... you can if you want... but I sure won't. You are talking about all of his wins, talking about how focused he was... and all of his losses and how un-focused he was... makes no sense. Just because you are winning doesn't mean that you are more focused. During his first fight with Randleman.... he looked plenty focused. He was reading Randleman's body language and thought for sure that Kevin was going for a takedown, and got clocked... everyone was suprised. Had nothing to do with Cro-Cop not being focused... he was very aware. Also... pretending like he felt the UFC was lower league even AFTER he got absolutely dominated and embarassed against Gonzaga is outrageous. That is a HUGE problem with boxing and MMA fans. Everytime a fighter losses... he doesn't look the same, he is shot, he wasn't focused, he had a torn vagina... it's getting old. It is one thing when there is an obvious problem, as there sometimes is in fights. It is another when you just write off every loss to "not looking the same"... or "not focused". If that is the case, then you may as well go ahead and say that Cro-Cop is a horrible professional, and should stay in amateur events... because Pro's know how to prepare. Coming to the UFC, Cro-Cop would have absolutely no reason to NOT be focused. This was a HUGE event in MMA when he crossed over, and all eyes were on him. He failed, and it was because he wasn't good enough.
So the same person who beats Bartnett, KO's A. Emelianeko, Sakuraba, Igor Vovchanchyn, batters Mark Coleman, and gives Fedor his toughest ever fight lost to 'Gonzaga & Kongo' because "he wasn't good enough"? :huh
Or he wasnt on his steroids. Your little sermon about how he was only good because he was on steroids is getting old now. So how about you stfu already, its getting boring.
What? I thought you guys were using the "He isn't the same fighter" routine, right? He wasn't good enough to win those two fights... obviously. If you want to say that he just isn't comfortable fighting in a cage yet... then you can take that angle. To act like it is because he isn't focused, or "isn't the same fighter now"... is foolish. Cro-Cop is an exellent fighter... but he has a HUGE problem finding success when he is being pushed backwards. As I stated in the begining. Hence... he wasn't good enough to win. He needs to either learn how to fight while being pushed, or his MMA career is over... because any fighter worth his salt will keep exposing this over and over now. If you stand with Cro-Cop and let him stalk you... he is going to take your head off. If you have noticed... Gonzaga and Kongo didn't let that happen. They didn't allow Cro-Cop to stalk and bully them. Every fighter isn't going to be good enough, or have the right skill set to stop him from doing so. Obviously those two did.
Well, I've made no such claim... But both Emelianeko's brought it to CroCop, as did Bartnett, as did Coleman. CroCop has been pushed by better fighters than Kongo and Gonzaga and won. But even if that was the case its not the same as just saying "CroCop isnt good enough for the UFC", ie Kongo et al are "too good" for him, come on... Given the givens, it isnt TOO much of a stretch to say thres some other extraneous variable that has seriously depleted CroCops abilities - whether that be a change for the worse in his mental make-up (as Peter Aerts said CroCop has the skills of a Champion and mind of a child), or he is off the juice, I dont know, but "he isnt good enough" is prepsoterous.
If you read what I said, then you will know what I was getting at. My stance on the drug use in Pride is well known. That is the reason for hearing "he doesn't look like the same fighter" everytime one of the guys who does it, fights in the United States under testing. However, I stated why Cro-Cop lost those fights. It was you who felt the need to bring steroids into the discussion that I was having. I think that not being able to juice up has an obvious effect on fighters who are used to doing so, and getting that enhancement... but Cro-Cop didn't lose because of that. He lost for the reasons that I already stated. You can only survive being one dimensional in this business for so long. Once someone exposes a weakness... anyone with the proper skillset will do the same thing, unless you can improve that weakness. We will have to see if Cro-Cop can do that. You could see that Cro-Cop could still kick your head off of your shoulders if you let him stalk into range and do it. His opponents didn't let that happen.
Fedor beat Cro-Cop... Aleksander was moving backwards when he got knocked out.... and Barnett and Coleman aren't the type of fighters that I am talking about. Fighters who can stand with Cro-Cop, and push him backwards. You are mis-understanding the word "pushed". I don't mean, giving him a good fight... I mean physically moving him backwards, and forcing him to fight off the backfoot. Gonzaga didn't even need to do it... he just brutalized him everywhere. Kongo clearly bullied Cro-Cop around, and Mirko looked helpless.
Well, to be fair CC did get kneed into his balls couple of times and probably had a broken rib so that fight is understanble why he lost. If you watch that fight CC was pushing him till some point(it was either after he got kicked in the balls or got hit on his rib, dont remember) Gonzaga just dominated him period. He had a good plan and he walked over unsuspecting CC. In that fight I think CC was just way too cocky coming in thinking all he needs is his left leg over his shoulder and the title fight is his. I think his style sucks for the cage pure and simple. He needs to cut the angle and in cage you cant do that. In cage you can push them on the fence and dirty box VIA Couturing. Its not CC to do that.
Basically his fans will only count his wins, same goes for Gomi and Penn, they win even when they lose, its a joke.
Too tired to look for it. Usually people bring up his loses with a "good thing" vibe to it. He has 8 loses but people tend to discount them because they were against good competition.
