Maybe. Take a 300lb guy and give him a little training and he will hit like a mule kicking downhill. But can he land on a quality opponent?

Lots of heavyweights probably hit harder than Tyson if you are just talking about raw power.

I am not familiar with this boxer.

Tyson wasn't the hardest puncher of his era, let alone all time. A prime Tyson wasn't just about power: he was power + speed + defensive skill + offensive skill + athleticism.

If you look at any great boxer, it's not that they're the BEST at any one thing, but that they possess a great range of different abilities. Boxing isn't American football: you can't afford to specialise at just one thing.

whats make you so sure those guys hit harder than tyson. what makes you such an expert ?. is your opinion soley based on what mirovic said because if it is you are a muppet . real experts such as emanuel steward, eddie futch , angelo dundee reckon tyson is without doubt one of the hardest punchers in history . i suppose you know better than them .

Tyson was a very good puncher, probobly one of the best in history. But certainly not the hardest. His punches were very hard, but also very fast, and he was able to put alot of leverage behind them because he came out of ducks and slips to land them.... Is tyson probobly one of the BEST punchers of all time?? HELL YAH? But the hardest? nope. Wlad and Lennox hit harder. They are bigger men, and they weigh much more. They definitly have more 1 punch power and timining then tyson. But they are NOT better punchers..

I think you confusing somone having the hardest punches, with someone having the best punches :good

I've seen Tyson punch live and I find it incredible that there are people who hit distinctly harder than him.

But it seems from the film-at least-fighters like Foreman and Lewis had greater one punch power.

so by your logic the heavier and taller you are the harder you hit . i suppose lewis and wlad hit harder than foreman and shavers because they were bigger and stonger .

Well, Bruno and Tyson punched a PSI bag and Bruno generated more power than Tyson in one punch. Freddy Roach always said that Wladimir hits harder with one punch than Mike Tyson (He trained both of them mind you) and I am almost certain Lewis is a bigger puncher than Mike Tyson.

I can name two more off the bat like Donovan Razor Ruddock and Sonny Liston.

Who cares what Mirovic has to say. The only Mirovic I know is the one that lost in a spirited effort against Lewis back in like 98, he never even fought Tyson to draw that conclusion.

As far as Tyson's power is concerned, noone in the history of the heavyweight division had his combination of handspeed and power. And if you ask anyone that has ever stepped in the ring will tell you, it's the punch you don't see coming that hurts you the most. And at the end of the day it's all about punch placement, you could hit a tough guy on the forehead all day with your sunday mornings best and he wont go anywhere (Peter/Wlad), but bang that same guy right on the chin with a decent punch, you might just see him doing a nose dive into the canvas.

Tyson does not have the heaviest hands in boxing, but the speed on his punches/punch placement allows him to have more opertunities than most to catch his oppenents on the chin, with a punch they never seen coming. You can see examples of this must during his second career, where he turned into a one punch knockout type of fighter, combination fighting took a backseat. Here are examples of which his one-punch power caught his oppenents off-guard, Botha, Eitenne, Norris, Seldon.
