Now before i start this isnt a thread to bash hatton but I would like to ask whether there is a misconception about hatton being entertaining in the ring. Yes he comes to fight and is a fighter who brings it and comes forward but i can honestly say bar the PBF fight i havent really ever found him entertaining in the ring. Anyone else feel the same?

The Collazo fight was more entertaining than the Floyd fight.

But his so-called best performances against Tszyu,Malinaggi and Castillo have no replay entertainment value in them.

depends on what kind of fan you are. Most prefer a lot of action and usually looks for a KO, Some prefer what others may say as "...science" while others refer to it as "...running". Some like brawlers which Hatton is more likely to fit, accompanied by a lot of hugging and body punches. He is entertainng for me, especially when backed up by his huge fanbase!

To his fanatics, hatton's style is good for their eyes.

I can be entertained by a pure boxing match or by a brawl. Dunno why the OP would not have been entertained by fights like Hatton v Thaxton or Hatton v Magee. You don't develop a fanbase like that without providing entertainment for people at some point.

I feel the same, loads of sloppy clinching and fouling isn't fun to watch at all.

You'd never get Hatton in a Gatti-Ward type fight because he holds too much.

I think what it comes down to is that Hatton used to be entertaining pre-Tszyu, which is how he established his fanbase. Then in Tszyu fight he employed the smothering, fouling, hook and hold style to negate Tszyu power and boxing ability. It worked so well that he continued to fight like that for the rest of his career and hence his entertainment value diminished exponentially. His loyal fans, however, would say otherwise.

The flying left-hook knockout of Maussa and the brutal body shot against Castillo were pretty damn entertaining, however.

The 50 odd thousand people packed into Maine Road or the 10 -20 odd thou who flew over to vegas seem to suggest this is no misconception. Even if its just casual beer boys and not fight fans Hatton does numbers nobody else can do. One way or another his fights must entertain, most people can have a good time drinkin at home with 4 walls in Vegas drunk on fight night forget it. As has being said it may not be science but there is no science to entertainment, let the peasants have their circus.

Not every Hatton fight is an entertaining fight but I honestly can't think of one that I found boaring. I can certainly think if so boarig ronds but **** dude give the guy a break no one has nothing but thrilling fights if they want to stay on the winning end of them.

Even the Tszyu fght was pretty dam entertaining though. And really if you try to make everythng look pretty when your fighting the top figters your bounds to get knockd out. Take Cto Margo for instance. If Cotto would have tried using some dirty boxing he would have won that fight. Instead he tries to slip every punch like he's pernell whitaker or something.
