    Gibbons did better H2H (although their fight before Miske got sick was a draw)and against common opponents (obviously faring much better against Greb)

    I agree, very hard to say that someone was being ducked without all the facts...these things get blown out of proportion with time.

    It's true that Gibbons had Miske's number but I found the following quote of interest:

    "I always had the highest regard for Billy Miske, both as a boxer and a man. He gave me more trouble than any boxer I ever met, and that includes Jack Dempsey. Miske was a credit to boxing.” Tommy Gibbons
