Note: This is not a defense of PBC, they've been good at times and ****ty at times.

Why is it that when PBC has one-sided cards, it's largely considered mismatches and "Haymon specials". But when HBO has a card, and PPV for that matter, where the two fighters sweep the card, it's not largely considered a mismatch BY THE SAME PEOPLE and you have to pay a premium for it.

If Crawford fought Dierry Jean or Dulorme on PBC, would it receive the same praise or would it be labeled a "Haymon special"? Would he be slammed for ducking Postol, Peterson, Matthysse, Garcia, etc?

If Golovkin was under Haymon and fought on PPV in a fight most knew would be a mismatch, how would the same Haymon/PBC haters feel?

To me it seems like the mismatches are not as entertaining on PBC.

Also the mismatches seem to be a little more extreme on PBC or any of Al Haymon related shows.

But some PBC fights that seem to have an obvious A side have been close action fights.

I think the Al Hamon cards are still working out the match making bugs.

Haymon has done a great job, there have many many competitive fights and upsets on PBC, also there is nothing wrong with PBC showcasing A sides, its the build up process to something great.

People who have a problem with PBC usually have some kind of a agenda.

It's been alright for me, nothing great, nothing bad. It feels like ESPN fights with the exception of a few good ones.

They have a problem with PBC but I'm sure they have nothing but love for ABC Wide World of Sports back in the day...as if they never showed a mismatch on network television.

The average PBC fight is way better than the average ESPN fight was. Either you're only thinking of the best ESPN fights or have forgotten much of what was put out. Some of PBC fights are comparable to HBO and Showtime for me. Then you factor in how many more fights PBC puts out and I would actually drop HBO and Showtime if I had money issues. Then again I work nights and miss all of what PBC puts on throughout the weekdays. From what I see though, Haymon knows what he's doing, but that's just my opinion.

PBC sometimes has 3 or 4 fight cards in a week. HBO sometimes has 1 fight card in a month.
    really bad comparison

There's more mismatches on PBC because there's more fights and many of those fights are not meant to be high quality events in the way that almost every HBO event is expected to be.

PBC seems to be basing itself on the UFC.
Some UFC cards are big cards with superstars.
They also put on middle of the road cards like the one in Dublin the other night.

Not every card is supposed to be lights out.

Some of these cards seemed to be designed to get guys fights

The difference is the mismatches on HBO are specifically designed to build a fighter and raise their profile for a big fight.

Whereas the mismatches on PBC are just designed to lead to another mismatch with their slapdash take on matchmaking.

I looove pbc but even I know that the decisions are extremely biased in favor of the Haymon fighter. Fred Kassi got robbe...TWICE!

When it comes to title fights, I don't care as long as they're entertaining. Like the Wilder fight. HUGE mismatch but yet very entertaining. Of course not as much as PPV fights but who cares ITS FREE. You're not paying someone to let you watch it.

On PBC it's name guy vs who? Never heard of him. Ranked 56th or 108th according to boxrec. With HBO the mismatch is more like name guy vs former champion.

That is right. PBC is better than ESPN even if it isn't as good as HBO. I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the matches. Friday Night Fights was unbearable sometimes. Box Azteca was often better.
