How fast was this guy? He was the only fighter to actually attempt to go toe to toe with a young Tyson, but he lasted "Barley " the full 10 rounds ,even getting his mouthpiece knocked out of the ring. I believe his speed and Tysons lack of experience helped him. At 6'5 225 he is another forgotten Tyson victim. Hes also an example of how fast fighters actually had got at that point as he was probably the fastest 6'5 guy anyone had seen up until Ali,,though he was definatly one of the fastest HW's ever. His only loss prior to Tyson was Berbick, but many said they thought Green won that fight. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LhXhkr56czg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Mitch was a tough guy.. he ran with the "bloods" in New York and began fighting in the streets at a young age.. He rarely showed fear of anybody from what I've been told. His life in the ring was limited though.. Drug use, bad management and a poor work ethic will end any boxing career.. He went from being a promising young prospect to a semi-retired journeyman over night.
Yea that's why he was known to brutalize guys in street fights. Funny to because he hit harder than many past time top Hw's ,that you guys claim were some of the best punchers ever...
He didn't run with the bloods...he got that nick name because he drew blood from his adversaries in fights while in his gang. Basically quit boxing after other guys were getting paid more, then turned hefty into what you said he became. On green! Visions of Don King and Mike Tyson obsessed Mitch Green, along with those of a number of black civic leaders he believed to be in cahoots with them. It was generally assumed he was paranoid, crazy, and dangerous. But consider: When Mitch was a child in Georgia, his father had been shot dead at point-blank range by a man he was simultaneously shooting dead. The men's funerals were held in the same mortuary on the same afternoon, both families sweating through their Sunday best no more than a few feet apart. Or this: As a gang lord, Mitch presided over New York's Black Spades, a gig that required him to maintain an aura of menace while fending off anyone insane enough to challenge him. Or this: As a young man who'd won the New York Golden Gloves heavyweight title four times in a row, he'd been given money, cars, and an assortment of flashy presents by some of boxing's white elite, like Shelly Finkel and Lou Duva. Guy was so out there he also thru the Seldon fight becuae he wasn't getting paid enough.
Here we go again more trolling from the termiteator! Bet the topic will be turned onto Klitschko worshipping again. How big are they again? How hard do they hit? How fast are they? Please 'educate' us in your usual fashion. I await your usual 'witty' response. Bring it on.
He wasn't very good. He had moderate speed, nothing extraordinary. He did have a good chin. The plodding Trevor Berbick outpointed him. He also had a penchant for doing PCP and talking ****.
He was feather fisted. Go back and watch his fights and read what the boxing mags. of his time thought about his (lack of) ability, in general, and punching (lack of) power, in particular.
you mean "threw the Johnson fight" He never fought Seldon, he lost to no name trial horse Bruce Johnson after being out of the ring for SIX years. If he did throw the Johnson fight because he wasn't "being paid enough", then it only highlights how delusional the PCP had made him. Why would he get paid a substantial amount to fight a no name, after not fighting for many years. I guess he thought his "notoriety' for getting a busted up eye in a street fight with Mike Tyson was actually worth something more than tabloid laughs.
He was very avoided in the 80's,i would have liked to see him fight the other tall guys like Tucker and douglas, even Tubbs.I assumed he fought Seldon, also read Seldon was afraid of him and paid this guy or that guy not to fight him?Though green was done right after Tyson fought him and after that street fight he had. I know he was shot in the leg and never really fully recovered that either.
Mitch Green was shot through the leg once, had you been standing next to him when that happened you would still be more shot than he was just go down your posting history... :smooch
Disappointing comeback grub. I expected better than that lame a.rse response from you. Oh by the way how 'big' are the Klitschko's again?
