Lewis beat Tucker and put him on the floor twice - Something Tyson couldnt do. But Hey - don't let facts get in the way of your loaded doggeral
Tucker was 29 years old when he fought Tyson, whereas he was 35 and on the comeback trail against Lewis. Let me clearify that I agree with the general gist of some of the things that you've said in this thread, but Tyson's performance against Tony Tucker as opposed to Lewis's against the same opponent, is not a valid comparison.
Tony Tucker retired for 2 yrs. after the Tyson fight and was on ****in drugs(a drug fiend) when he cameback and still was competitive with Lewis. Trust me, if he had fought around the time Tyson fought him, he would of had a lot more than he can handle. And see the previous posts it wrote about Rudduck. As for David Tua, he's more one dimensional than ****in Jeff Lacy for crists sake.(only difference is he has a better chin and more one punch power) When Ike Ibeachi fought him, he was in much better shape. Having a good chin and power don't make you a good fighter. If a light feather fisted Chris Byrd can beat him, than you know it ain't nothing to brag about. Micheal Grant:rofl, come on now. He's another media creation, who possibly has the worst heavyweight chin in history. Golota exposed him and if he wasn't so mentally impaired, he would of finished Grant. Briggs is a bum, he lost to an old foreman and David Tua is so one dimensional and slow, anybody with a big height and reach advantage dominates him, the same way bum ass rahman(the guy who one punched Ko'ed Lewis) dominated him with a jab. Vitaili ain't no hugh puncher and if he doesn't get that cut(that Lewis created by catching him with the side of the glove and the fact that white fighters cut easier) he would of stopped Lewis in the fight. Bruno was also past his best and he was outboxing Lewis and he ain't even in the top 5 for the 80's fighters when he was at his best. Bruno got gung ho and got caught. Lewis was good but he gets beat by a lot of good heavyweights before him and after.(that's vitaili and peter if your wondering) So no, it's not hate it's a reality check my friend, something the so called experts don't bring up, and the same way Teddy atlas gets payed to bash Tyson's career, to destroy mikes credibility when he was a good fighter.(cause Kevin Rooney is the real expert of mike career, he made him the champ he was and it's kind of odd they never use him when disscussing his career)
In other words, Holmes jab was that much better than his, since you can't read between lines. So yea, he might have had a decent jab, but it's very overated. And yes, mercer is the best fighter he fought. It was a fight he actually really loss, and they gave it to him. And lewis was in his prime, in shape, and had manny training him. If you get my drift.
LOL This is precious. The man who starts a whole thread on Mitch Green vs Lennox Lewis, claims that Lewis had no jab and says that Ray Mercer was Lewis's best fight, is now critiquing my comprehensive abilities. PLEASE SEE RESPONSE BELOW: This content is protected
Mitch wins by ud, way too fast and elusive for lennox, if mitch was able to fully develop there is not a doubt in my mind a prime green would beat lewis, the berbick fight was a bag job, green would have had to kill berbick to get the decision, he fought that fight after not having fought for a year, king made that a difficult fight for mitch, he was having trouble keeping green under control and that fight was done to put mitch in his place, green wasnt ready for trevor at that stage in his career but took everything berbick had to offer and never got hurt, we all know the behind the scene story about his fight with tyson, the kings really did a number on green and his career
Tyson was knocked out by an accumalation of punches by taking a beating from 230 + POUNDERS OVER THE WHOLE COURSE OF A FIGHT. Danny willliams hit Tyson with 20 unanaswered punches before Tyson went down with a hurt knee and Mike threw in the towel agasint mcbride. I don't know how that constitues having a bad chin. Mikes chin was way superior to Lewis's chin. He never got Ko'ed with one punch, I can see if it happened once but it happened twice. Mike got hit with a clean shot from Bonecrusher smith in the 12th round and ate it. And he took the best punches from argueably the hardest hitting heavyweight in the heavyweight scene when he fought Razor Rudduck. Holyfield stopped Tyson from a verage of punches and the ref stopped it, he never knocked Tyson out. Everytime Mike was knocked out, was either due to lack of conditioning, poor training habits, lack of the right trainers, or when he was at the tail end of his career.
Lewis wouldn't run away against Tyson, he would be firing back and fully gain his respect. A peak Tyson or near, force of nature that he was never faced a fighter in the calbire of Lewis and Holyfield in the other corner. Ruddock and Thomas were game enough, Tubbs fought him but was ultimately no real match, Berbick was a decent fighter but fought the wrong fight (still, magnificent performance from Tyson), Smith and Tucker held and ran to drop mile wide decisions, Holmes was Holmes, but 5 years plus outside his best, Spinks a great lightheavy but outphysched and destroyed. Lewis and Holyfield will both take Tyson outside his comfort zone, rough him up on the inside, be boxing and moving and most importantly not wilting and claming up when hit, plus they're both above Tyson 1980's opponents in terms of class and mettle. I have Lewis-Tyson as near 50:50 but Lewis maybe should be wafer thin fave. Holyfield beats any version of Tyson post 1990, at their respective best, though it's hard to tell.
