Dan Rafael is saying that Mitchell injured his hand and his fight with Banks is off. It could be rescheduled for the Sept 15 Alvarez-Kirkland ppv.
Hopefully it is re-scheduled. I liked the fight and it's a good test for Mitchell at this stage of his career. I was picking Banks by knock-out as well.
Supposedly both guys still want the fight and September is the new target which also happens to be the same time as the Alvarez-Kirkland ppv. This would be a good fight for that card.
I'm pretty disappointed myself, Mitchell is an exciting heavyweight and Banks is a solid test. Atleast there is talk of putting it on at a later date. Fights keep falling apart for GBP lately, its been a bad month for them(and us) in that department.
I think this might amount to the worst 2-3 weeks in boxing history. So many big fights cancelled and more importantly the death of Tapia and the Paul Williams accident.
