Mitchell took plenty of clean shots before he ate the big hook which decked him. Just out his depth really.
Lets be honest, a guy with no chin doesn't make it as far as Mitchell has. Those fighters usually don't make it past domestic level without some seriously careful matchmaking.
The first KD he went to throw a left hook and had right hand down and turnt onto Burns left hook. He did well to get up, but he just hasn't got any survival skills and falls apart so quickly. He's open to a left hook, same shot beat him before...
I think he has got a weak chin. The shot that Burns decked him with was a belter, but he was hurt a couple of times already before that. The first decent shot that Katsidis landed on him caused him to cling on. Like Mand said, his survival skills are poor. A lot of British fighters are **** at clinging on, can't be all that hard to learn, can it?
His problems are like Khan's, mostly not having a clue what to do when he is hurt. Goes all macho and fights toe to toe rather than survive. Mitchell before the Katsidis fight boasted about his punch resistance, this set in motion his downfall. I think he generally believed he has a Hagler chin.
i dont think tibbs teaches survival tactics. as soon as mitchell gets hurt the fight is over. he doesnt know how to hold. much like chisora or khan. billy joe saunders will be the same
Absolutely true. As Flea posted, limited punchers can stop tough guys simply by knowing when to throw. Mitchell just kept walking in to shots because he had decided Burns couldn't punch. Then when he got staggered a few times, his macho side told him he needed to prove he wasn't hurt. And then he walked onto that left hook, which Burns delivered beautifully.
Khan has only been knocked out by guys with 1 punch knock-out power. Khan would never get stopped by a guy with 9 knock-outs from 30 fights.
If he got caught with the same shot he would and with his shoddy defence its not impossible either should they ever fight.
Burns could certainly get Khan out of there, it'd be foolish to suggest otherwise. Not saying he would, but he works the body well and could time Khan quite easily.
