Mitchell talked the talk, but he (Unfortunately) couldn't walk the walk

Before I say anything, I'm not a Mitchell hater at all and am devastated about what happened, but I am entitled to my opinion so I will say it out.

I honestly think it's going to be f******* hard for Mitchell to come back from this (If he does, it'll take time).

No disrespect to either fighters but Katsidis is an old fighter (who although didn't fight like it) was coming to the end. Mitchell is 25 years old and I hate to say it but he seriously blew it. This was his first real exposure and he flopped it.

I mean Juan Diaz beat Katsidis and Juan wasn't known for his resistance (as of late).

I know us brits are shocked about what's happened but I question how good Mitchell is and to be honest, his resistance. You could bring up Prescott but he really didn't get caught by a flush punch by him.

You could argue that Mitchell's defence or his lack of experience on coping with pressure wasn't on cue but he's 25 years old. It's not as easy with him as it would have been for someone such as Khan who was 21.

I honestly hope I'm wrong. But Mitchell needs to go back to European level and concur there before stepping up. Hard road back, not a good day for British boxing.

Mitchell was also opening his mouth a lot saying he'd fight Khan's mandatory (Maidana) and that Paulie's a "blow away". In a sense he was doing the same thing Khan was doing (Calling out fighters). Hopefully Mitchell has learnt well and this will help in mentally aswell.

Let's hope it doesn't rub onto the next British fighter that's fighting tonight.

I've been saying on here for years that I like Mitchell but he's well overrated. Just like most British fighters. Feed him a load of chumps, then a couple of OK guys like Prescott and Johanssen...not world class.
He was exposed tonight just as Maccarinelli was against Haye. There's always a chance this happens to a Warren fighter when they take their first test at world class level.

The problem is frank warren,he feds his fighter's bums and protects them so much that when they step up they get exposed badly,Mitchell is a good fighter but he hadnt fought any really good opposition..

Sounds like this is another fight that was so easy to read that EVERYBODY cleared up at the bookies?

A prime Carl Johannesson would beat Kevin Mitchell.

Is a prime Johannesson the one that wouldnt have got pissed the night before the fight?
Mitchell showed alot of heart in teh fight against Carl, he was well on his way to getting knocked out when he turned it around. I wonder if he had swayed away from the punches from Katsidis better, especially when his head was still clear after the first one landed, whetehr he could have pulled off anotehr turn around?

Mitchell was just totally out of his depth against Katsidis. Johanesson would have beaten him.

It's a shame people invested so much faith in an unproven flat-cap wearer. I prefer my fighters to wear ancient Greek battle helmets  :deal
