This thread title,IT was never on in the first place.Mitchells team releasing info through forums says it all...shows who needs more than the.other ...Burns is a class above him.
Kind of pleased about this as I wouldn't have been able to go to this, or probably even watch it for that matter due to being out of the country. Hopefully we can see Burns in against one of the division big dogs soon.
Rios was stripped of the title before the Murray fight. The Abril fight was for the vacant interim title he lost on the scales and when he failed to make weight he was exempt from winning the title should he beat Abril (which he did officially) and therefore still has no title. Rios won't fight at 135 again. If Mitchell is on the bill he will fight some sub-par African or European imo.
Nelson stated months ago that he didn't think mid-July was a reasonable time frame for that fight as Ricky was taking a few weeks off from training before going on honeymoon. He reckoned that combining that with the European Championships and the Olympics would mean Ricky would be out again nearer the end of the summer. Pretty sure it was an interview with Bunce on BoxNation in the weeks following the Moses fight.
Ducking Broner, and Mitchell?! Disappointing stuff from the perspective of a Burns fan. Would prefer to see him fighting more regularly and against decent opposition. Mitchell is a class European operator. I think the fight, like Broner, favoured Burns big time. I'll be happy if Burns takes on Bogere next though :yep
