No way mitchell bottled it. Fighters themselves rarely do although i wouldnt be suprised if his trainer wanted to have a tune up first. Hopefully they can get the politics sorted and get the fight back on.

Kevin Mitchell's FB page says it is off due to 'politics'. I wonder if we will get answers. I was looking forward to this fight, it was a match up that I had hoped would happen this year, such a shame.

I've already said I doubt Kev bottled it, but he has had confidence problems in the past and you never know, I wouldn't call him a bottler but if he has decided he doesn't want to fight that's his business and as a fan I'll remember him fondly although I hope he carries on as I think he has a lot to offer, but if I took the shots he took against Kats I'm not sure I wouldn't think twice about carrying on.

I think it's more likely down to money as it often is in this game. I've nothing but respect for Mitchell and he deserves all the credit he gets.

Some guy posted on Joe Gallaghers facebook that Jimmy Tibbs did not want Mitchell to go into such a high profile bout after 11 months of inactivity.

That is very understandable. I was surprised that he was named to fight Murray, I was expecting it to happen later on this year - if it were to come off....

Who's next in line to fight Murray then? Could it lead to a Murray v Murray fight with Andy Murray. 2 unbeaten fighters this fight could well get made and be good fight Ireland v England I would fancy John Murray to win it but if Andy was to get the win it would be a springboard to fighting for a world title.

Who is he gonna fight then?

I suppose Rees and Crolla will be put of the question? Watson is pretty much done. I'd hate to see him in a poxy eight rounder against an Afro bum.

Much rather see him in with Murray, Rees or Crolla. But Tibbs is a very good trainer and knows his fighter. Hope it gets sorted asap tho!
