Mitchell vs Chagaev possible for 7-7

The big question is...is Chagaev getting hit more these days? If Chagaev has gotten fairly easy to hit, either to the head or body, then Mitchell stands an excellent chance of getting the KO.

I've noticed that Chagaev is definitely slowing down. He didn't look like a ball of fire against Manswell. But the deciding factor will be if his defense has eroded due to aging (slowed reflexes and reaction time, coupled with reduced footwork).

Seth can KO anyone he can hit cleanly and consistently.

On the other hand, if Chagaev can avoid big bombs -- and deflect Mitchell's strength sapping body shots -- then he could win, possibly even by KO. Mitchell's vulnerability to rights to the head is alarming...and a sign that he may not be ready to step up against a veteran like Chagaev.

So, overall, I don't know. But I'm guessing that for Mitchell, the Chagaev gamble is worthwhile: Ruslan may be shot.

Bad fight for Mitchell. Chagaev has too much skill and exprience, combined with a solid beard.

Mitchell needs a few more fights.

 

thats a good fight for seth IMO. Big step up and even if Chagaev is not what he was... he is dangerous and has a ton of experience.

This. I'm very interested in the fight but if I were managing Mitchell, I really wouldn't do this. I'd put him in against someone like a Rossy, Austin or Mormeck first, see how he looks. Chagaev is obviously past it but I don't think he's as past it as some think.

 

good news . the 2 names floating around are the kinda names i wanna hear , i think the easier fight would be chagaev

 

Very risky fight, while he may be past prime Chageav is 1000x better then Witherspoon.

 

If he wins, He'll hit top 10 well, 8 or so IMO, I got Chageav at 10-11 currently.

 

Would be a good fight. Hope it comes along.

Very much so. I think all we know at the moment though, is that he's scheduled to fight in July. He needs to keep active.

 

Mitchell actually loses this one, I think. Chag can take a punch and outsmart Seth pretty easily if he's got anything left.

 

even an overweight, shot Chagaev is a danger for Mitchell, he'd make the most of Seth's shaky defense and outbox him easily, Seth would need a KO to win

 

Was Chagaev's positive hepatitis test a mistake then?
