Mitchell is fast becoming one of my favourite fighters, probably helps hes an Essex and West Ham man like myself. Hopefully he'll get a shot at a world title in his next fight. Katsidis name is being bandied about, how do you all see the fight going?
Mitchel would beat Katsidis in my opinion, the fight is coming at exactly the right time for him. I honestly think he could out-class Katsidis and beat him up. He's slipped since the Earl war. I'd go for Mitchell in 8-10 rounds. The thing is though, Katsidis is likely about to be taken out of the equation by Juan Diaz, who has already beaten him. That fight is made for March, I believe? So I don't know why Katsidis's name is being chucked around with such authority.
True enough much can happen between now and the fight being made so its not definite, just fancied hearing how people thought it would go to see just how they were ranking Mitchell's ability, not many opinions so far though. I agree with your outcome, I was thinking Mitchell either by decision or late stoppage after dominating the fight. He certainly doesnt appear one-dimensional, he can fight but he can also give a restrained performance without getting drawn into a brawl and I feel he would outbox Mitchell early and maybe come on late as Katsidis was running out of steam to stop him. Whether its Katsidis or someone else he should definitely be fighting for a world title though.
I dont see why Mitchell gets a world title shot to be honest, He beat Prescott a very limited fighter and hes just beat another fighter who probably isnt even as good as Prescott, dont get me wrong Mitchell is a quality fight but i think Katsidis would be far to much for him.
Katsidis is not a champion so they fight is fine by me. I thought Kat had won an eliminator but with the champs doing everything they can not to face dangerous opponents he is out in the wilderness. If Kat wants to fight Mitchell then Warren should make the fight. It could be a great night for the fans.
thats pretty much what i was thinking, Katsidis is penciled in for late march against diaz again anyway isnt he, probley loose again since its ment to be in Houston
I think Katsidis takes this. He's become a bit underestimated regarding this fight, he's not a mug and gave Casamayor hell before he got stupid. I cant stand his trainer but I think he's still improving as a boxer aswell. The worry regarding Mitchell is he's still basically fought no one depending on how highly you rate Prescott and is now expected to go in at this level? It'll be interesting and he's definitely not without a chance, I favour Katsidis 65-35 or something though. Great fight.
Maybe he should fight a better fighter before the title shot but I think he should do it sooner rather than later, I know hes young but hes 31-0 and if he carries on fighting on the level he is he might get branded another Calzaghe. Hes certainly done more than Khan did to warrant a title shot, I think he needs to make his move now, hes capable of beating Katsidis I reckon.
Could be. I haven't heard though and I just checked Boxrec and the fight is still made. Based upon his SD over the unranked Escobedo? His last three wins were outside of Ring's top 10, and in the two fights previous to that he lost against ranked contenders. I think Kastidis is done at the sharp end.
I thought that was a very good Katsidis performance. And anyone who watched that fight knows it was never a SD :yep
****...wrong Diaz....David is fighting Soto...thats who I was thinking about....dont know what Juans doing Guzman is also being thrown about for Katsids
Agree with this....Eskebedo was GBP's new man on the block....Kats smashed him most rounds....no way it was SD.....more like 8 - 4 or 9 - 3
