Hadn't thought about this fight untill it got mentioned.

Would really like to see that and see weather mitchell could retain he dicipline against Willie.

Limond has posted saying the money was crap.

Pay the man and lets get it on.

(The fact they were trying to set this up means Katsidis is unavailable)

Or they are offering Willie **** to make Katsidis take lower money.

Why? Mitchell is supposed to be kicking on from this now and at least fighting world ranked opponents.

It would sell because people remember the exciting fight with Kahn.

I'm not overly worried with what sells, Frank worries about that. I just think Mitchell needs to be kicking on from that win. Katsidis was a great option but even somebody less notable but known on the world stage would be good. Willie Limond is not that.

I actually think it would be a decent fight. The Katsidis fight is still going to be there due to his ranking. Nothing wrong with a good domestic tussle!

Of course there is when its at the wrong time. He's just got some momentum behind him which is why its the perfect time to kick on towards world class. They risk wasting that and bringing back the stale Kevin Mitchell that neglected defence if they hang around fighting Willie Limond. It's not coincidence his best performance was in his biggest challenge.

People outside Britain recognised his win over Prescott, fighting Limond would see him fade back into obscurity.

I'd have a shortlist something like...

    1. Katsidis
    2. David Diaz
    3. Escobedo
    4. Acosta (interim WBA holder)

World level names but nothing overly ambitious.

With all respects to Limond, who is a decent operator, I'd rather see Mitchell take on a World class/fringe World class opponent.

    Perhaps availability is an issue.

There must be somebody. None of the guys I mention have fights lined up. There is also Jorge Barrios who is ranked above Mitchell in the WBO rankings.

I thought mitchell became the no1 contender after his win over presscott?

Also, is Mitchell the man to be avoided now he is proven at world level. It may cost Frank Warren a small fortune to get a top foreign contender to fight him, unless he had a world title of course. Limond is a good opponent if that is the case....he caused Khan a few issues while it lasted.

Limond is not a good opponent in any case. Who cares about Frank's wallet, its not a concern for us fans

Limond achieves nothing, and I don't mean to sound disrespectful because Limond IS a good fighter at this level. But its a level Mitchell should be aiming to surpass and did indeed begin to surpass against Prescott. It doesn't improve Mitchell's standing in any way shape or form.

The only domestic fight that would be interesting is John Murray as he's the best lightweight on the domestic scene but it would make more sense for him to fight Mezaache and Mitchell to take his own route and for them to meet down the line.

Willie should take on the winner of Buckland vs. Brawley for the Celtic title, Mitchell will be fed an easy opponent by Fwank if Katsidis is not available

    MAB?

I agree it's high risk low reward but it would build towards an eventual Kahn fight.
