Prescott is a much better boxer than you might think, and he doesn't even need to be, mitchell gets ****ed.
This is a stunt by warren. If mitchell wins it means that Khan no longer has to have a rematch with Prescott. It would also give a legitamate (in the eyes of casual fans) title defence against a guy who is currently fighting two weight divisions below him. On the other hand if Prescott wins he'll fight Khan, but in the eyes of Warren it must be a risk worth taking as mitchell is not as well known. I just see it as Warren attempting to protect his golden goose. For the record I rate Mitchell, just dont likethe way hes being treated
I really really dont see this fight happening. I dont know, it just beyond me to think that a certain promotors fighter would take a guy who is an actual risk> On a personal note.....i love it, this is what boxing is about. I just dont see it happening. Prescott will only fighter the big name british fighters once he is more shopworn.
Most people only have about 1 minute and about 8 shots of footage to judge Prescott, he's vastly overated for me. Mitchell points for me.
I have seen his last couple of fights and I was very disappointed with him - if Mitchell stays calm, doesn't get into a war then I can see him winning the fight.
Thing with Mitchell is, and people are referring to his gameplan here, but has he ever boxed a 'smart fight'? I mean, ever. Has he? I know he was a good amateur and he does display good boxing ability for short periods in a fight, but has he ever put it together on one night...? The red mist seems to descend as soon as he's hit. He had a WAR with Johanesson, hurt him and finished him. He didn't outbox him so much. Against Walter Estrada he was eating the straight left like it was nothing and eventually got a peculiar stoppage to the body. The kind of shots he takes are startling at this stage of his career. He takes punches in a similar way to John Duddy, he takes flush power shots right on the chin.
kev always steps up to the plate when he needs to, he has trained well for this fight, lets hope he takes it into the ring on the night
the way he sees it is if he boxed a smart fight the boxing public would slate that, (like khan in his last fight he boxed clever and got negative press) kev can mix it, he can run rings around his opponents all day long but wouldnt that be a boring fight, when he did avoid the large punches the public were saying he hasnt been tested and didnt know if he had a good chin, well he proved them wrong, sometimes there is no pleasing the boxing fans
I see where you are coming from and its okay pleasing the fans and standing toe to toe up to a certain point but its quite evident that wouldn't be the way to go against Prescott. I don't think thats the way to go as Kevin fights in better class either. It's okay at times, if he picks his moments, but I think Kevin needs to find a better balance between using his skills and knowing when to stand and trade because he's been taking a few too many IMO. We know he has a good chin now, he needs to stop proving it!
