IDK, my cousins are die-hard MMA fans, and I am a die hard boxing fan. But somehow we live in peace.

The conclusion we came to is that, there will always be stupid fan-boys on both sides. But anyone who takes their time and educates themselves about the different sports. And the different an unique skill sets you need for them. CAN and WILL come to a healthy respect for the other side.

Umm, what are you guys on?
Yea, we won't see another Fedor, GSP etc, we'll see a more developed sport is what we'll see. It's like saying we won't see another Marciano. No we won't, boxing is different now and you put Marciano in today's boxing ring he won't get out of 4 round vs today's cruiserweights. The sports evolve. In MMA you see it evolve rather quickly. You realize the sport is only literally only 20 years in right? Less than 10 on a big scale. You do realize that today's kids are joining BJJ/MMA schools rather than other combat sports more and more. The new talent is coming up, believe me, we will see GSP's in the future. He's a refined MMA fighter, first of his kind. Imagine any top boxer in 1940's. They'd be unstoppable.
Greatness is measured in how ahead of your time you are. Right now, it's clear that fighters like Fedor, GSP, A.Silva, just to name a few are just ahead of the game, weather it's their work ethics or the path they took prior to MMA. MMA has great talent coming up, don't fool yourselves.
In a way, it's unfortunate that wrestling is so dominant right now because it might bring boring fights. It's easily fixable with right refereeing by just following the 15 second rule(stand up after 15 sec of no action) instead of too-often-seen 1-2 minute "rule".

Yeah, because there are so many inside thigh kicks, spinning backfists, and omoplatas in barroom brawls.

    That doesn't make sense.
What is well "roundedness" other than a bunch of style complementing each other? Black belt in BJJ is hardly a belt for "survival" on the ground. Being a black belt in BJJ is quite a weapon. I think A.Silva more than proved that against exceptional grapplers such as Henderson or Lutter.

Can't imagine an omaplata but I bet a good leg kick will knock any wanna be tough guy to the floor. Best part I think it's much more embarrassing cause he's not out but on the floor grabbing his leg in pain.
Even while conditioning for leg kicks with VERY light kicks, my untrained thighs KILL me. I don't want to imagine what it would feel like receiving one from the likes of a Mui Thai fighter.

Totally agree. Light leg kicks even with shin pads on you still feel them alittle. Imagine if one of those crazy ass guys from Thailand started digging into your leg :yep

My grandfather is in his mid 80's and he loves MMA and Boxing but even he says that MMA is more exciting at times. He gets that gleam in his eye talking about MMA you can almost see him remebering his heyday on the streets. hahaha

Does Sugar really want to engage in this kind of debate when the sport he proudly supports has had many deaths in the rings over the years, and countless examples of fighters with dementia from years of punches to the head?
    And suddenly MMA is barbaric?

I'm not bashing boxing, I'm just saying that's it's rather hypocritical considering Sugar has defended the violence in boxing his whole life, and is suddenly repulsed by the violence in MMA.

Great point ..Me personally I can respect MMA ..Dead in 5 yrs ?It was Bruce Lee that started MMA if you want to be technical and its has evolved into what it is today .Why is it that boxing refs can work MMA fights now ?Why are their PPV's doing very well ? I see the sport getting bigger ..Boxing just has had a longer history but there is room in this world for both ..Sugar is stick in the 50's with his logic .
