it is brutal, that is why i like it and after i have my first mma fight i will shake my opponents hand, i understand it is a sport and nothing personal, but during the fight i will be trying to knock him out or choke him out.

it is the same as when i fight amateur boxing, after the fight i say good fight but during the fight i am trying to knock my opponent out.

fighting is a sport, whether it is boxing or mma but should never be taken lightly

I think Judo gets often over looked for self defense. Throw on concrete with intent to harm is fight over. It can be a great equalizer especially if you are far weaker. I've even heard of female judokas hurting male attackers baddly with a drop seio. You might not be powerful enough to knock them out with a punch but you can damn well hurt them with a throw espeically if they dont know how to fall.

unfortunately its boxing which is the brutal sport out of the two, mma may seem more brutal but boxers are cut from a different cloth, to take punches constantly to the head for 12 rounds has far more health risks than getting choked out or kicked to the legs

Generally the stand-up in MMA is Muay Thai which is far more brutal than boxing.

No boxer takes constant punches to the head for 12 rounds, it doesn't happen. Watch a Muay Thai fight in Thailand. People getting smacked in the face with knees, elbows, punches and shins. Same in MMA. Some MMA organisations allow knees and head kicks to a down opponent. To me that's stupid, but its ****ing brutal.

Look at the glove size difference between boxing and MMA as well...

I know some of you guys like to think boxing is the ultimate sport, but be realistic with this.

you see a lot more punch drunk boxers then you do mma fighters, but mma is the more brutal sport, 4 oz gloves, knees, elbows, punch, kick, choke, crank, submit, slams. In mma you don't get a count when you get knocked down, you get pounced on and ****ed up some more.

the difference is in boxing you are always fighting a puncher so you will get punched in the head every fight
in mma you could face a wrestler, jiu jitsu, or muay thai or even boxer, depending on your opponents style depends on the style of fight, and let me tell you a submission gone wrong can have you out for months and months, some serious ****en injuries.
