Sadly for me, Colby could hold his own. His wrestling means he can dictate where the fight takes place against most fighters. I would like to see him in a sport where upkicks were always legal.
His wrestling is overrated. He has some decent take downs to be fair, but he punches like Ronda Rousey auditioning for a part in the REM Shiney Happy People video. Up kicks would not make a difference. Matt Hughes would **** him and smile whilst he is doing it.
Upkicks completely change the game. The fighter on his back is much more of an offensive threat. Watch Anderson's DQ loss here, and see how different things would be if that kick were legal. This content is protected Guida has a way different fight against Pettis had upkicks been legal.
*Note: Upkicks are legal when your opponent is standing. This content is protected Upkicks are illegal when your opponent has a knee, probably hand too, on the ground.
Yep, but once upkicks were a part of every fight, they would be trained for...there is far more work inside the guard than there was back in the PRIDE/UFC early days...evolution and all that
Sure, sure, without a doubt. I agree...it would still change the game. Upkicks make it dangerous to have you head up, while in your opponent's guard. Having your head down is also bad. Passing the guard would become a higher priority, and ensuing scrambles would be a bonus.
