MMA is full of Glass Jawed jokes. And before the resident nuthuggers post about it being the gloves that is not the case. I have seen plenty of guys do the chicken dance from Jabs. Most of the MMA guys are failed boxers anyway.
it's a difference in class. i used to be a big fan, now just a casual fan of MMA but i can count on one hand the number of cage fighters who might have had actual boxing training or had any inate skill. other than that they look like slapsy ****ing rosenbloom
Don't worry - stupidity isn't outlawed yet so you can still post here. :deal Even a scrub like Sylvia has trained for years to advance in the sport. There has never been an example of a great or champion MMA fighter with little to no training. These guys train for years - just like boxers. Sylvia was never great and was only successful because of his size advantage. He was very much the Valuev of MMA - except much worse.
Can someone explain the neurosis behind this overriding fear of another fighting sport by fans that claim to be strict boxing purists? Do fans feel threatened for some reason? Seriously. It's not like we're going to wake up tomorrow to a newscast stating that there will be no more boxing matches in the world. And who's fault is it that guys like John Ruiz, Valuev, and Fres Oquendo continue to contend for a heavyweight championship? Boxing has it's share of horrible fighters and bad fights as well. I have a copy of Klitschko/Ibragimov on DVD if anyone wants a copy.
That's taking it too far. MMA definitely takes a great deal of practice and dedication. Boxers only train in one craft. That's why their stand-up is generally so much better than MMA fighters. But unlike boxers, MMA fighters have to train multiple crafts, including boxing, wrestling, brazilian-jiu jitsu, judo, muay thai, etc.. I definitely have respect for those guys. You're hatin a bit much with that comment.
haha, good point. i dislike the sport because it's become a poor man's boxing. People become rich, famous and arrogant with little or no skill because they can beat another guy with little or no skill. Essentially, i'm jealous
Actually you're wrong here, the sports are extremely similar and share key aspects. How can you compare boxing and MMA's relationship together with that of Baseball and Football. Are you a ****ing spork or what? :rofl
Holy **** I just spit my coffee all over the screen. Throw in a shade of Zelenoff with Max and you have a perfect match. This kid's name is probably Zellerman
