Based on this response and your recent thread on kickboxing, I guess you are more of a striking fan. Is MMA the sport for you? :)

Okay first of all, there are thousands more boxing matches worldwide than MMA matches. Second of all, a large majority of deaths that do occur in boxing occur at very low weight classes in countries that feature inexperienced refs, complete mismatches and sketchy medical screenings.

Second of all, I dont know what you're babbling about. MMA has been super disappointing with horrible main events. The cards have been stale and one-sided. Dont make me go through their main events the past year.

And that is the biggest myth in combat sports. I dont know a single person who was disappointed in Mayweather/Mosley. I was disappointed in Mosleys effort but Mayweather put on a great display of boxing. Pacquiao/Clottey was awful but it certainly wasnt Pacquiaos fault. Its funny how you say MMA is more popular than boxing in the US but not outside of it. USA makes up how much of the world population? 5%? And even in the US, the popularity of MMA and boxing is DEBATABLE especially when you consider that the biggest, most lucrative PPVs have come from boxing NOT MMA.

MMA/UFC is so popular that Dana needs to fabricate the number of PPV buys they get.

If you're going to complain about boxing undercards then you should complain about MMA undercards as well. The fighters on the undercards of boxing are just as good in their respective sports, if not better than MMA. I mean, what the hell is Crocop/Barry doing on a main card? What the hell is Todd Duffee doing on a main card. LOL, and you're going to sit there and critique boxings undercards. Talk about hyprocritical.

    This.

Because MMA is such a young sport we still dont know the effects of it on people over long periods of time. Chokes, Headkicks, Blows after the opponent is unconcious etc. can all be deadly. At least in boxing when a guy is out he is not getting 'hammer fisted' in the face for 3 seconds. That said boxers take many more clean shots to the head (Unless you are Floyd Mayweather Jr) than mma fighters, because of the more protective gloves and the fact that it is rare to see a boxer take several shots after they are unconcious, means death and sevear damage is less likely but slower more gradual damage is more likely, things like slurring of the speach, slow reactions and hearing problems.

At the end of the day the shots you take in MMA can be much more leathal than the ones you take in boxing, but uncle Dana is lucky that so few have occured. We will see in a few years time though.

The funny things is I say all this yet I have been training in Boxing, Muay Thai and BJJ for 2 years and am hoping to start taking part in MMA bouts as soon as I am old enough. I think I just ****ing scared myself out of it.

From the photo you can see he is slim but not anorexic. To put it into perspective, Peter Crouch is about 6'7, slim like this guy and weighs 166 according to his facebook. I'd expect this guy to at least be 170 pounds.

Kolya on this website is 6'5 and weighed about 165-170 pounds last time I knew. He has a similar build. I'm sure this guy must weigh a good 170-175 so I think he is cutting at least 15 to 20 pounds.

Doesnt matter. If he's that tall theres no logical reason for him to be cutting any weight. It was clearly detrimental to his health. That picture of him is him hydrated. Even at 170lbs or whatever he's still underweight.

What was the name of that rail thin welterweight who snapped his leg in the UFC attempting a low kick? The reason he's leg snapped was also due to his unnatural weight for his height.
