Roy Jones beat James Toney and Bernard Hopkins by standing in the pocket and using his superior shoulder roll and philly shell?

Roy Jones beat Tito by moving forward the entire fight and throwing only left hooks?

Of Course Jones beat other boxers, in a boxing match, by boxing. It isn't a fair comparison. I can also easily say that Anderson Silva beat other fighters, in an MMA fight, by outfighting them. The intricacies of the sports are different.

Anderson wins his fights not by striking alone, but by being more well rounded then all of his opponents and it is because of his well rounded-ness that he's able to utilize his striking is such a fantastic way. If he had devoted all of his energy to just striking based techniques and fighting philosophies, he would be a gate-keeper at best. It's his knowledge of grappling that allows him to execute his striking techniques to their fullest.

And do you compete? How do you know how amateur Mixed Martial Arts competitions are done? I can say that they're probably not as well run, but that's because boxing has been around over 10 times longer! But the talent pool is arguably bigger! We're drawing on athletes from many different disciplines. Boxers, Thai fighters, Jiu Jitsu practicioners, Judo players, wrestlers, and traditional martial artists, and even those who just pick up MMA from the beginning! So, that's debatable at best.

This is just a mess of nonsense. Utter complete ignorant nonsense.

So, by no definition would anyone conceive Anderson as a particularly proficient wrestler, yet he was able to prevent Henderson from taking him down, save once, in two rounds? That would be impossible unless he had, at worst, a rudamentary understanding of wrestling fundamentals. I promise you he fully understands the mechanics of wrestling and their techniques. He has to in order to counter them. Is he going to be competing in wrestling tournaments any time soon? No, of course not. He's not a wrestler. He's a mixed martial artist.

Now, onto the next part of that post which clearly shows you have little to no knowledge on which you're speaking about.

Anderson is not a particularly proficient grappler in general? Really? The man holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the Nogueira brothers. Do you know how belts are awarded in BJJ? If not, familiarize yourself with the process. It's by far the most difficult belting system in any martial arts system anywhere, ever! I could go on, but that's sufficient enough to show the absurdity of what you're thinking is a decent argument.

I don't have to name any "elite strikers" he's faced. I can name dozens of elite mixed martial artists he's fought. I can give you his whole resume. Problem is, those elite strikers seem to have problems against grapplers so they don't even get to him. Hence why you have him fighting grapplers because grapplers, by the very nature of their practice, have the best chance of attaining success in a MMA fight. That's the very same reason why those who are considered elite strikers may not fair well in MMA. You need only look to the last UFC event to see that. Paul Daley is a World Champion Muay Thai fighter. He's absolutely phenomenal on his feet. He's got world class skills. However, all that fantastic skill and knowledge was completely negated by wrestling and grappling.

See the point I'm making here? If not, then I don't know what else to say.

I give up. If you're seriously debating still then you're not going to get it.
