You got the number right but it's not actually good for network TV. I guess in terms of how much FOX is paying them they are ok with it, but nothing to brag about, again they were better when they started.
I forgot to mention, that even with down boxing ppv numbers, overall it is the first time since 2005 or 2006 that boxing has beat the UFC on PPV.
True, but the UFC would love a Floyd, Manny, Canelo, Cotto, Hatton etc (people that can draw MASSIVE numbers). They only have 1 or 2, or they rely on WWE's leftovers. Also, they NEED to build the fighters - Not Dana or the brand. Lawler, Cormier, Pettis, Mendes... How do they struggle to build fighters like these guys?
Yeah it helps that both Mayweather and Pac fought 2x this year, but like you said boxing has always had the biggest draws. My point was that the UFC are getting to the point on some of these PPVs of losing money. Something that seemed impossible a few years ago. Their 'big' PPVs this year with Rousey were the standard in the past and it's downright weird that old man boxing is doing a much better job of creating stars than the do no wrong hip UFC. I mean Dana White surfaces a day before this last PPV, says some nonsense about yet another P4P #1 and doesn't even bother to show up at the post fight conference.
The numbered events (PPV's) used to be STACKED until a few years ago, and until the FOX deal. They need to do 4 of those a year, IMO. And really stack them. They've expanded too quick and just saturated the market.
Never said it was great for network TV. It's not, and they've clearly hit their peak. But it's a long, long distance from "dying out".
