The next time some stupid idiot makes that argument at you and keeps on saying its all just dry humping on the floor, remind them of the Wlad vs Sultan fight. We have seen a few not so very exciting matches recently, the Rashid Evans vs Tito Ortiz coming to mind first but nothing and I really do mean nothing has ever come close to the waste of time that was last nights fight.
I wouldn't do that....Because it's just as easy to point out the opposite (see : kharitonov vs werdum , or arlovski vs werdum , sylvia vs monson etc...)
exactly I have watched snoozers from both sports as well as great fights. When someone makes a comment like that there are either ignorant or bias.
People who generalize an entire sport based on picking out particular fights are clearly bias. You can like one over the other but both sports have entertaining fights as well as shitty fights.
Every sport out there Soccer,American Football,Boxing,Baseball etc everyone has boring games and great games or boring fights and great fights so theres no real point in this thread.
It seems that whenever there is a UFC event that doesn't live up to expectations a bunch of haters show up and start trashing the sport as boring. Funny, after the Liddel/Silva fight (and a pretty good main event with Hughes/St. Pierre) there was silence from those wankers. No sport is always going to be perfect every time out. Boxing has had it's fair share of stinkers and will continue to do so, just like MMA. But both sports more than make up for it when great fights happen.
I like yesterday's fight. I think it provides a solid argument what would happen to Wladimir if he was to go into MMA.
Try telling Pavlik/Taylor I it was boring! Between the Pavlik/Taylor bouts, Cotto fights, and Mayweather/Hatton, boxing had a good, good year. MMA also had a damn good year, if I do say so myself. Both had some duds, but the great fights more than made up for them. How about two different but equally awesome fighting sports doing well at the same time? That's the way I like it. :happy
Too true, thats the point. MMA is really starting to take off, i'm even seeing mags in the local newsagent about MMA. AND... The stupid argument about boxing been on its last legs seems to have gone away. We had some really good fights last year and this year looks pretty hopeful too.
Boxing isn't likely going anywhere any time soon. Besides how many boxers have been successfull im MMA?
