MMA is fun, but here's why i think it lacks when compared to boxing.

i agree with this thread, i love mma, im a huge fan, but boxing will always be my first love, and the main reason is because of the skill, dont get me wrong, people are still whoopin ass in boxing, these guys ARE beating eachother up but the technique is great, fights like that do happen in mma but they are few and far inbetween, esp. with the clash of styles you have, i.e. a boxer vs. jiu jitsu practitioner, etc. i guess the biggest problem with some mma fans is they buy too much into the propoganda the announcers are forced to say like, "those arent 10 oz. gloves...etc." whatever, boxers endure just as much if not more pain during the course of a fight

So true. All of the grappling skills in the world won't help you when the guy you are wrestling with on the ground locks up your hands so his buddy can kick you in the head until you lapse into unconsciousness. Similarly, a well developed karate style does not defend very well against a gun or baseball bat.

The point of the above being that anytime rules of any kind are imposed, it ceases to be a street fight, which is by its very nature is based on the unfair.

Some of the guys in mma are crazy talented many ADCC champions or Olympic athletes it just depends on your taste it not boxing or mma they are totally different. And it not street fighting many of the guys are masters of their martial art.

Thats just an excuse. The machismo behind being a boxer is that you can kick the other guys ass with your own body. Nobody brags about being able to kick someones ass with the help of their friends or a gun. People respect/fear someone like Tyson because he can beat the crap out of you...well m8 with a gun and 20 of my friends we can beat up Tyson too, nothing to brag about. Its the same case with MMA vs other martial arts, the simple issue is a fight between you and another guy and see who is the tougher badder of the 2. Not who has a better gun, a sharper knife or has more friends.

Wanderlei Silva was knocked out by Crazy Horse

Tito Ortiz was beat up by Leel Murray

Don Frye was beat up by a boxing trainer

what does this prove? mma is not the be all and end all of fighting.

Watch Rampage-Silva (either of them) and tell me that a right hand from Wlad hurts more than 10+ ****in' knees to the chin.

And lets not forget that Silva and Rampage are Lt Heavies and not Heavis ..Some people kill me with their logic ..I'm sure most Lt Heavies would crumble from a Wlad punch ..

I already seen it, the ref stopped the fight. Rampage was out on his feet, and obviously was done in that fight after what the 3 or 4 knee. Trust me a solid punch or 2 from Wlad would end Rampages night in a hurry, 1 straight right from Wlad would put him on ***** street.

I never said it was. But you can bet that Fedor will beat up your average guy and Wlad will beat up your average guy, in the same case I believe Fedor will beat up Wlad. He could get KTFO b4 he ever reaches Wlad but if he gets hold of him, its over and its alot easier to hold someone than land a perfect punch.

I'm not sure what your point is. I was simply responding to and agreeing with the point made by Imperial that MMA, or boxing, or whatever is not the same thing as a street fight. Whether one likes it or not, MMA is just a sport with a bunch of rules like any other and is not any more realistic to what you might encounter in a back alley fight somewhere than what one might find in a boxing ring.
