JZ (Calvancanti - awful typo!) fights for K1 HERO'S and recently won their tourney, hasn't lost since Hansen in 2004 and has wins over Uno and Shaolin on his recent record.

Tamura fights for Shooto at the moment and is on a 4 match win streak where he beats a better opponent every time, I just like him though maybe having him on and Melendez not is a bit harsh on Melendez.

Shaolin has killed most good people at his weight in the past and only ever lost to JZ by flash knockout and to Kawajiri a few years ago. Also fights for HERO's

 

Akitoshi Tamura maybe
cavalcanti -Gesias Calvancanti (good record sole loss to hansen)
shaolin- vitor ribero (good record only loses to Kawajiri and Calvancanti )
all small weight fighter's

 

It depends on how you measure p4p if you measure it on skill or who has won what, you seem to measure it just on who has won what fight's alot of other people don't.

 

Most of the best lightweights are still in Japan anyway, I don't think UFC has really invested in that division. I think Hansen could beat Sherk, multiple takedown attempts into those knees = bad idea.

JZ I would pick to beat Sherk in a heartbeat, although in today's ****ed up MMA environment, who knows? Shaolin and Melendez I'd be very confident about too. Maybe Kawajiri.

I'd say Gomi but I think Sherk would just take him down and dry hump him for 5 rounds, even though Gomi has good wrestling when he actually decides he wants to use it.

 

I would pick bj penn to beat any one of those guys at lw as i think at 155 he is the best.

 

Yeah, I could see that, I would worry about him a bit against JZ because JZ can just physically overwhelm people. He'd have to be super cautious.

 

Bj is so skilled on the ground though, and in the stand up he is hard to beat.

 

It's be a good fight, it's just JZ can power people around at that weight, he has a Sherk like physical advantage although he actually tries to finish fights.

 

I can see what your saying but if matt hughes,gsp and machida (considering the size difference) couldn't do that much i am not sure that jz can power him around.

 

Well he's more explosive than those guys, imo.

But agree to disagree, just a shame I can't see the fight happening for a while, it'd be great.

 

It's a pity bj's fighting for ufc he would be a great edition to the hero's roster where he could fight some top lw competition.

 

I'm going to have to keep Fedor around # 3 or 4 until he fights again. You just can't have a guy up there who's last fight was against a middleweight and who's last notable fight was Crocop who seems to be vastly overrated at the moment

I think Fedor needs to fight and soundly defeat a few guys of Gonzaga's calibre to maintain that spot.

Fedor keeping the #1 spot seems almost honorary at this point.

Hunt's no chump of course. I just think Fedor has to waste a few more guys like him before he sits on top of that list.

I'm kind of tired of seeing Fedor and BJ often listed as top p4p when 1. fedor really hasn't been fighting and 2. BJ has recent losses and is often unprepared.

The top p4p guy in any combat sport should be active and always fully prepared and of course not have recent losses.
