Man, for the last 2 years where I’ve become a BIG fan of MMA I’ve been criticising him for the match making, didn’t realise, like you said he was basically a PR guy now. No wonder he’s trying to get into other avenues and barely has any enthusiasm at all when announcing new fights on his live streams. Not sure how long it’s been since he had any say in the matchmaking (I’m sure he still has a little bit) but I take most of it back.
It is owned and operated by TKO Group Holdings, itself a majority owned subsidiary of Endeavor Group Holdings. The largest MMA promotion in the world, the UFC has over 578 fighters contracted that fight across 11 weight divisions (eight men's and three women's).
That Ige stoppage was hilariously bad. I mean, sure, he took a brutal kick and got knocked down, but all of the subsequent punches were blocked by Ige´s guard. And they were not strong enough to bounce Ige´s head on the canvas like a basketball, which usually happens in such stoppages. The ref 100% panicked there. Neal KO was brutal tho. Back to back KO losses too, time to call it a wrap at 35. Strickland getting a stoppage win will always be surprising. The inside fighting in the 3rd was really interesting, Strickland did a lot of framing and pushing with his palms instead of any sort of wrestling, instead he was grabbing Hernandez´s hands and pushing his shoulders to get him off balance. That knee was a peach.
Mexicans just dont give a **** about MMA. The UFC has been desperately trying to break into that market for years now to no avail. They literally had a bunch of local journeymen on this card to fill in the gaps.
In all seriousness how is this even possible. How is it possible for the premier mma company on the planet and a billion dollar enterprise to have such a pathetically woeful heavyweight division. The blame has to come down on the ufc id think, for mismanaging what's supposed to be the premier division in combat sports.
Will be two out of the last three ufc heavyweight champions (and two of the most dominating forces of their time) that leave the company without losing their belt. And two new champions crowned without having beaten the lineal champion. Pretty lame.
Am I the only one that finds the white house 'super event' to be a lil meh? Have to say I was expecting something better. This is the best they could put together?
Dana and the ufc have spent a year calling it the most amazing ufc card of all time that will blow your mind then they deliver what essentially is a standard ppv event. It's essentially Topuria defending 155 belt against probably the 6th best lightweight. Perriera v Gane which is a fun heavyweight fight for another fake ufc pretend belt. THEN 4 regular ufc fights that fans should expect from any old ufc ppv event. It's just a regular bloody card. The UFC's model is to ridiculously over promise then under deliver.
Apparently one big fight fell through, but even then its a bit of a meh card. Reminds me of 300, which turned out great, but was held together by duct tape and prayer. Its actually mind boggling that they managed to put together just a single title fight for this card, that damn interim belt is absolutely meaningless. The organization really has gone to ****. Don't forget Meisha Tate headlined ufc 200 and then Jamahal Hill Headlined ufc 300. Bigger than Football/soccer worldwide says Dana.
Slipping in Bo Nickal Vs Daukus is so slimey. Also why don’t they just give us O’Malley Vs Sandhagen already? In all fairness, look at the fight night card next week. In fact look at all of the cards this year. Apart from 324 they’ve all been pitiful in terms of names and star power. This White House card in comparison is actually insanely good, but as Francis mentioned, its standard promise big and under deliver
