MMA is one of the dullest things ive seen in a long time id rather watch a heavyweight game of tiddlywinks

 

Whatever, it is what it is. I cant get into UFC, but most the target demographic is eating it up. I cant tell you how many dueche bag guys are in the gym playing on the heavy bag like there some ufc star, looking like complete idiots. But Boxing is still Boxing, its not going anywhere, there's plenty of fans to keep it going and there always will be.

 

I like MMA but dont be think MMA fighters dont want to earn money like top boxers do. Of course they would want that money but they dont have much choice in the matter. Fighters are signed to the UFC and that means they basically take the fights and money the UFC will give them. I mean where else they going to go? Remember MMA is not popular. UFC is popular but other MMA promotions are off the radar. In the past you could go to Japan and Pride did pay better but MMA in Japan has had its boom period and its now on a downturn.

I would argue that UFC fighters deserve a bigger cut of the revenue the UFC makes.

 

they put up good number and i congratulate them on that but best vs best isnt hapening in either sport. and they put on a ppv every weekend.


they put on fights that the Mickey's malt liquor drinking fans request.


seen total mismatches of fighters with 10-10 records fighting champs after losing thier last 2 fights.

they are marketed very well to wrestling and extreme sports fans.

 

Greed is making UFC very profitable.

Some into Dana White's pockets. However, a good chunk of it is also going towards good undercard fights, which is the difference. Though I am avid supporter of boxing, my chief complaint like so many others, is that beyond the PPV main event, there are rarely any attractive fights on the undrcard. I find myself begrudgingly paying $54.95 because I know that if the main event sucks, then the money is all but wasted.

 

I am sick of people assuming that the UFC model is best for MMA or boxing.

1. ZUFFA aka the UFC gets 90% of all the profits instead of the fighters

2. If you question or cross the UFC they will do anything possible to ruin your career including freezing out a fighter for a full year until his contract runs out. Also, if you are a UFC champion and your contract runs out the contract automatically renews itself, so you can't leave the organization or get a raise unless you lose.

3. The biggest MYTH, that all MMA fighters fight the best all the time. This only happens if you are under exclusive contract with the UFC. If you are promoted by any other organization you do not exist, the pro-wrestling type commentators won't even mention their name and there is ZERO chance of a co-promotion EVER. So if you fight in Dream, Sengoku, Strikeforce etc you can never face a UFC fighter. For example Fedor is recognized as the undisputed linear heavyweight champion of MMA but he will never face any of the UFC heavyweight unless he signs a Don King type exclusive contract with ZUFFA/UFC. In this contract ZUFFA controls you in every way including what sponsors you can use during the show, what appearances you make, movies etc you can do.

4. All the lower level fighters who are just coming on the scene are being forced to sign a LIFETIME merchandise contract where the UFC could use your name exclusively not only after you leave the organization but after you die. This is the typical pro-wrestling model, a few months ago the #2 welterweight in the world Jon Fitch was verbally threatened and fired for a short period of time because he refused to sign his name to the UFC video game. He eventually signed it because fighters have zero leverage and most of the MMA promotions outside of the UFC are failing badly, none of the fighters will see any of the profits from the video game.

5. There is a PPV monthly, the UFC get away with this because their fans buy the shows due to the name brand alone, basically they are gullible idiots.

The UFC gets a free pass by all the media because they are the new cool thing, but they run their business like the WWE. Dana White is their Vince McMahon.

 

Yea MMA can make the best fighter fight each other without thinking about the money. It's too bad boxing has to many damn promoters than can't agree with each other.
