As fan of both sports, I'll say the obvious, MMA is a completely different sport than boxing. The better MMA fighters like Diaz don't concentrate only on one aspect. What reasonable argument can be made by criticizing an athlete from one sport from the vantage point of another?

He aint shite in MMA, his strikes work well in MMA + that didnt look like Diaz, Im not saying it wasnt him but he looked fatter & much slower than Diaz normally looks.... maybe he was near the end of a gruelling training camp or something.

Diaz has sparred with pro boxers such as Ward & Kessler tho, he thinks boxing is very important to become a complete MMAist... his BJJ is very good also.

Nice hook at the end it looked like Henry was takin it easy on him Diaz looked horrible. Fue horrible, fue horrible! Diaz has no bounce on his toes, head movement, jab, bodywork, nada. Even gordonyo version of Feroz is going to dominate or stop this kid. Boxeo and mma just 2 different worlds man.

Dont cum in your panties just yet... striking in MMA is different from outright boxing, you have to be able to deliver your punches while guarding kicks & takedowns... they are completely different sports, I wish fans of boxing would stop getting all excited everytime a boxer does well vs an MMA fighter & vice versa, its embarassing, it shows a comlete lack of knowledge about the sport they are laughing at.

Diaz will probably lose to Vargas in a boxing match but Diaz is a far better MMAist than Vargas is/was a boxer & would beat Vargas in less than a minute in a cage fight (unless he tries to punch with Vargas & not use any other skill whatsoever... so in a nutshell, Vargas has a punchers chance in a cage, thats it & its really unlikely... see Toney v Couture for details)

Agree that it is a totally different sport with vastly differing styles.

The reasonable argument for critiquing his style can be made because he is wanting to venture away from what he knows and is pretty good at.

Like I said in my first post, it's like James Toney thinking he can make an impact and do well in MMA. He tapped out for his effort because he has no ground game and didn't know how to defend against it.

Same with Diaz, his boxing skills leave a lot to be desired in just about all aspects. His chin will probably be very easy for even a journeyman fighter to use for target practice and find himself counted out.

Yep, it is.... so lets not get too carried away.

I do agree he should stick to MMA tho, he`d be a big loss for MMA if he left for whatever reason.

From this video, you'd never be able to tell that Diaz is a professional fighter.

He has one of the most ortodox boxing in all MMA (at least he can jab) , and one of the better too.The most ortodoux boxers in MMA are the better boxers (Penn, Edgar, A. Silva, Eddie Álvarez, Gilbert Meléndez, Dos Santos), because boxing is boxing, the biomecanics are the same for all humans. In MMA you have that learn grappling and lowkick defence for when you are at kicking range and the opponent uses it (if he do it), but when you are punching, is the same. Can change the strategies (not much boxing head to shoulder in MMA), but the technique is the same, when an MMA fighter trains with only boxing trainers (Roach, Ibarra), they improves A LOT.

I liked his work against Robbie Lawler. The shoulder butts, etc. He is a good dirty boxer for sure. Love to see him and Cung Lee fight eachother. Lee had a harder time with Shamrock then Diaz did but I still pic Lee head to head.
