Any other time I would avoid topic like this but I thought it might be important ..

There has been lots of topic about Boxing place in the MMA and how boxing foot work and how it could not work in MMA . I cam across Anderson Silva KO over Chris leben. in this fight you can't help but notice Silva foot work is Identical to Boxer and he uses it very well to take chris apart and finally KO him .

Chris Leben foot work on the other hand is typical of most MMA, fighters uncoordinated and off balance, which leads me to believe a top level boxer would fair a lot better against top level MMA competition then, a MMA fighter would fair against a top level boxing competition , based solely on foot work and striking .

It should be obvious to anybody who has eyesight is that the vast majority of the streetfighters in the cage have nothing more than the most primitive fighting skills. Any boxer worth his salt can beat these bums.

Uhhhmmm.... are you guys serious? First off, Anderson Silva is a Muay Thai fighter. Second, he is fighting against Chris Leben, who does nothing but brawl. Everyone saw this coming a mile away. The reason that Leben didn't try to take Silva down, is because Silva is a great JJ guy too.

If you watch Silva vs Lutter, you will see how easy it was for Lutter to take Silva down, when Silva was using that stance. Had Silva been a boxer who wasn't so great in JJ, he would have been killed at that point.

    Stop being so ignorant.

Here is Matt Skelton vs Average Joe MMA guy....

Silva's footwork in this fight would be representative of his Muay Thai background. Leeben is moving in a more traditional "kickboxing" motion. "Boxing" has nothing to do with this fight at all.

Matt Skelton? He is still learning how to box and not being very quick about it.

movemants, footwork that boxer have are the best in any kind of combat sport!
I don't care if it is Bruce Lee or Wanderlei Silva, nobody comes close to Roy Jones or Evander Holyfield. A boxer moves, slips and slide way better than any other MMA fighter. Imagine a prime Roy Jones Jr., he would move all day in that cage, throw his blasting right and counter punch all day. Plus Boxer have strength too. 93 kg is what Quinton Jackson UFC undesputed champ is weighing, strong dude, don't get me wrong, but Haye and Mormeck both weigh 93 kg too and are stronger, bigger and have better technic than Jackson. Last but not least too put Boxing up. Just imagine prime Mike Tyson or prime George Foreman, even todays Wladimir Klitschko fighting in the octagon with small cloves vs the like of Fedor, Mirko, Erik Pele and the other HeavyMMAchamps, seriously, they would get slaughtered. George punched so hard, that he was lifting Frazier up, now imagine what would happen bar knuckle or small cloves........!!!!!!!

are you saying you have never seen a boxer move side to side and use angles ? what silva did in that fight was strictly boxing , sticking and moving side to side. I see that all the time in boxing ..

LOL! Are you kidding? Leben imo is the most skill deficient so-called fighter I have ever seen. His footwork is not traditional kickboxing.

Put Haye or Mormeck in a cage with Rampage and they are gonna get the **** beat out of them.....stop being stupid! Fedor? Fedor would beat any one of those boxers in less then a minute, and a minute is being generous to them :deal

In the video Skelton pulled straight back and was punished for it by getting taken down. Many people like to imagine that lateral movement has made Chuck Liddell a wondrous martial artist but the truth is every boxer, who got proper training, was told NOT to pull straight back. Apparently Skelton didn't pay any attention.

yup i agree,,,boxers are fighting with 8-10oz gloves

mma is 3 or 4 i believe...they dont throw straight punches like boxers...they are always looping ...people who BLAB about MMA always use the "what if an MMA fighter takes the boxer down"?......well what if the MMA fighter cant take the boxer down? How is he going to guard against the BOMBS being thrown his way???:think
