:rofl you have any footage of you sparring or fighting? I got a clip on youtube I'd show ya of my last fight, but I wouldn't post it for all the creepos on here
If you are talking about boxing at the highest level, I agree. I am sure that plenty of MMA fighters can do just fine in lower level boxing matches. Many of them actually have boxed before anyways. However, at the highest level, boxing is too technical, and a person who hasn't been trained for years on just boxing technique, and boxing under boxing rules... it would be next to impossible to go in there and compete with a person who has done it their entire life, and it's second nature. However, at the top level of MMA... there are some guys who can strike, but don't have strong ground games... or at least don't use them. So, I can see a boxer finding success if matched up against the right opponent. IF the boxer has some time to train, and become comfortable with the rules. A person like Kermit Cintron would be perfect. He has a good wrestling backround, and a shitload of power.
I should My name is on the Youtube title though and I don't want people to know who I am. I don't know if I trust that ***** enough to send it to him, have him tear me to pieces and then NOT to post it on here. After all I anally raped him by exposing his real name on here......and with that myspace page :rofl :rofl :rofl
A Mixed Martial Artist would not last 3 minutes in a boxing ring, and when they get hurt they get hurt they cant grab at the other guys legs they gotta stand their and take a beating. Why do Mixed Matial Artists where shorts? Because they're not allowed to wear thongs. MMA IS GAY.
Hey guys For what it's worth, I've trained with a few MMA guys. One of them is a guy who trains very hard, is in good shape, has trained in multiple disiplines, and fights on a regular basis---usually with very good results. This guy comes in, and wants to spar at the boxing gym I trained at...I was the closest to his weight (I was 150 lbs at the time, he was around 165). I have only been trained in boxing (for 14 years) &I've only had a few amatuer bouts. I schooled this guy. His punching technique was horrible, he kept his elbows up high and I killed him to the body. He said after that he was suprised a boxer could do that to him, and that not many MMA fighters he's faced could punch like that...like a well trained boxer. The other guy sparred a few rounds with one of the others in the gym, and was exhausted after the first round and got the crap beat out of him, he didn't look like he belonged in there. I've watched quite a few MMA bouts on TV, one thing that stands out to me, is how Chuck Lidell is known as a great "striker"...known for his punching ability. My trainer &I both agreed on this....Lidell isn't as good of a puncher as your average amatuer boxer. Lidell throws looping slow shots, and does what most MMA fighters do...carry there elbows high, leaving the mid section wide open, horrible tactic in a fight. Now I'm not saying that if I fought this guy I sparred with with MMA rules &those small gloves that I'd beat him, but I think there's a good chance I'd take him out fast with head &bodyshots, before he was able to go for a take down and try to roll around on the ground with me for 10 minutes. (can anyone say boring?) or kick me on the side of the knee 50 times until I can't stand on that leg, then jump on me and twist my finger to make to tap out....I hate to say it, but that's not skilled fighting, anyone can pull that off. Unfortunately, many of the boxers who go into MMA are washed up boxers, and they face younger MMA fighters, and subsequently, they lose. Ray Mercer is a case in point. A 46 year old guy who hasn't had sucess in the boxing in years, then he goes to MMA thinking it's going to be different. Shannon Briggs on the other hand, was a young man, who went into MMA and destroyed his opponent--with punches. Most MMA's aren't very well trained in stand up punching, and aren't able to defend against it very well. There footwork is generally bad as well....they hop all around the ring, switching stances like they can't decide if they are a southpaw, or a conventional fighter. This bring me to the next topic...Boxers in a street fight. 9 out of 10 guys you fight on the "street" are going to draw waaaaay back and take a big swing. A boxer will take a little step to the side, avoid the big clumsy punch, and couter fast &hard, effectively knocking the other guy's senses out of him. I've been in a few little scraps like this. They all ended the same way. The other guy on the seat of his pants with a bloody face, I was left unscathed...except for ripped up knuckles. A boxer has it all over the average guy in a fight. It should be simple for people to understand this. You always have the idiots who say "well theres no ref in a street fight"....yea no kidding, you think I'm gonna wait for the ref. to break us, take points for fouls, etc. I will bite and gouge your eyes if I have to. It's no holds barred in the street, but the boxer has trained himself in avoiding punches, delivering fast, accurate punches in combinations, and has the ability to absorb more punishment then most. man that was long winded lol
Who in earth is talking about a boxer vs an average guy in a street fight? Or a low level MMA guy, sparring against a low level boxing guy?:huh Of course a novice guy is going to get out "sparred" by a guy who has done it for 14 years. And OF COURSE a boxer would most likely kick the **** out of an average joe in a street fight. What's the point in this?
And I bet your the kind of genius who thinks Pawns should be able to move like Knights.....:deal you are banking that every MMA guy will just attempt to take the boxer down, but every MMA match i see the fight STARTS standing up. Like i said earlier you can train a boxer to guard against a take down, but if that take down doesnt happen...can you train the MMA fighter to take a boxers punches? do you watch WWE?:-(
Dude, you keep mentioning how Tyson, Jones, Foreman, etc... would beat the crap out of anyone. These are fighters not style. Imagine Tyson who also knows how to kick, knee, grapple, etc... wouldn't he beat a Tyson who could just box? Your analysis is invalid. A style that doesn't limit itself to one discilpine is also greater than one that does. Whilst boxing is effective it is limited. Vince Phillips took part in K1 and lost via knockout. Look it up.
The takedown happens as soon as the fighter knows hes fighting a boxer, who has no means of defending himself in any meaningful way against the takedown. You act like a boxers punches are somehow magical, a good head kick, or clinch and knee, or even a punch while being able to hold the back of the head are all going to be comparatively damaging. The difference is an mma fighter is at least familar with punches and trains punches for alot of the time, not as much as a boxer, but a significant amount over a long period of time. On the other hand you have a boxer who spends no time whatsoever on defending or effectively using anything other than punches, essentially helpless against every other form of offense. And no, I don't watch WWE, but that appears to be the realm of boxers now anyway.
