Certainly. It used to be no reff stoppage, it was just a fight to the end. I remember one fight in the begining a guy was juct kicking some other bloke in the head while he was down. He walked away with his hands in the air, and he noticed the other guy struggling to get up, so he turned around and ran back a put a full force kick straight in his face.
Remember Keith Hackney vs Joe Son, MTSR? It's the only fight i've seen where a fighter had to show he had iron testicles :rofl Early UFC is more of a comedy/freakshow in some ways, even the biggest critics have to admit it's come a long way from this. http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid=7531098686813186494
was that the one where there was the red headed kick boxer against that big fat sumo? he kicked 3 of his teeth out!
No not that one. I know the one you are thinking of. It was a karate guy vs that sumo, and the sumo bum rushed him and got messed up. That was one of the first UFC fights ever I think.
Guys i like UFC and all kind of fighting. Yeah you can say its brutal but boxing is also. Some of the most exciting fighting iv seen is Bushido....check it out Gary Albright made great fights. you missing out if you havent seen this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqMFJk2oyyA
hahaha thats awesome mate. I am glad someone else remembers the Bushido. I used to love watching Gary Albright. That big trucker who would just suplex the hell out of his opponents. He was a machine. And there was that really good japanese guy who beat him with great leg kicks.
Takada beat him, they had 3 great fights. Mate the belly to belly suplex and belly to back suplex is ****ing leathal!!! At the end of the clip he does a full nelson suplex!!! thats gotta hurt!! Id say Bushido is probaly the best fighting iv ever seen!!!
Me and my mates went through a massive stage of loving Bushido, learnt the moves and fought each other in lounge rooms at stuff. **** we got good at it, doin leg and arm hold, the can opener, knee locks, choke holds, face locks...... i broke both my little fingers in a famous lounge room fight once!! i lost by achilles tendant hold :|
Why does it have to be Boxing Vs MMA? Personally my first passion is muay thai, but from this has come an interest in combat sports (boxing, mma). I dont really understand this "war" between MMA fans & boxing fans.
its like comparing AFL to league, they can both survive together. Personly i love MMA and have watched it for years, and i also love boxing and kickboxing! Just like somone could like soccer, league and AFL.
