There are two types of weight bullies in boxing: Type A: A fighter who is noticeably bigger than what weight class there're in, is able to make weight, only to then rehydrate well over the weight limit on fight night. EXAMPLES: Hurd, C Smith, Lopez, Haney??, Spence?? Type B: A fighter who is in the right weight class, but bring up fighters from smaller divisions to fight them. EXAMPLES: GGG, Tank, Charlo at 160.
You know what, I agree somewhat. He did fight a lot of small guys coming up (Duran, Hearns, Leonard, Mugabi). But the difference is Hagler was a small MW & he actually fought all the top opposition during his reign.
If someone can make weight, they aren't a weight bully. If someone agrees to move up in weight to face someone, they aren't being bullied neither.
Any examples for Golovkin apart from Brook? Brook who is also a huge welterweight and possibly as heavy as Golovkin.
Fundora is naturally very thin, he can drain to Welter if he wants to, but he is being bullied by his handlers to bulk up to 154. Fundora never fully commits to his punches, if he does he would send lots of Welters flying outside the ring
Agreed. If a guy can legitimately make the weight.....”what the problem is?” What is the alternative? Not rehydrate tothe fullest extent? Don’t eat? Fight at a higher weight class? Are we really expecting fighters not to takr advantage of an edge? I recognize that some guys are able to put more weight back on bigger frames, but fighters and their teams are always seeking edges on their opponents. It’s expected. It’s an edge anyone would take if they could. It doesn’t happen by accident.
He’s a height bully. He’s always coming in over height. Never once have I seen him even try to get shorter. Or taller, when appropriate.
Weight bullies kill themselves to make weight to have an advantage KNOWING they should move up and can't SAFELY make the weight. It EXISTS. Examples: David Lemieux G Man Kell Brook
