Great post Jack. I think you're right. I like Martinez, but I think he'll probably be remembered as in between MW champion. I think it comes down to our appreciation for a guy like Martinez who wants to fight the best (Even if they are smaller) in this Pac-Mayweather hysteria. I think that's good, but then the praise can get out a little out of hand because of it.
You ask me that question like I haven't already answered it numerous times. You know I've answered it numerous times and you know what my response is. What you do is distort that point I made. I never called Haye an "ATG" like you claim. I called him an "ATG at cruiserweight" because I include him in the top 10 in the divisions history. I think that is fairly clear cut and yet you and a few toher Klitschko fans constantly try to turn it into something it isn't. Haye isn't and never was a great fighter. He is, however, one of the 10 best cruiserweights of all-time and that counts for something. In 10 years, he won't be but right now, he deserves recognitions for what he did.
Poor form :verysad I actually thought of that post when I heard he had passed away but couldn't remember which thread I had posted it in.
I know what you mean Jack, the words Great and Legend get shot about too much nowadays in general anyway, not just in boxing. But when it comes to boxing then all this p4p talk and being touted as an ATG while fighters are still active was a rare thing and mostly unheard of 15-20 years ago. It was only really special fighters that would be talked of in this manner while they were still active. Something younger fans probably won't grasp.
