Floyd is animal at 130, which would translate to 135 in that era. Floyd skill and ability to be competitive was never in question between me and @ChrisJS. It was more how he set about fighting opposition at their weaknesses. That wouldn't fly in the 40s as he'd just end up blackballed, especially as a boring black fighter who was REALLY dangerous. Think Charley Burley.

That was Chris' point anyway. I agree, Floyd would strive for greatness in any era, and here he wouldn't be able to abuse an A-side status and would have to fight under normal circumstances. He'd end up greater imo, maybe even if he lost a few.

Apologies, I skim-read when posting from the mobile.

I'm 100% with you. I think that Floyd and Roy were were definitely victims in part of their own era, as it was far easier for them to avoid routes to immorality by keeping it 'safe'. I think that if thrown into the Williams era for Floyd or the Moore and Charles era for Roy, they woulda picked up a few losses but would have achieved more greatness against the calibre of fighter that could really bring out their greatness but also leave no question marks about their competition and 'fight-picking'.

I still have a niggling feeling that Floyd's hands wouldn't have lasted on such a busy schedule as that time mandated when rising through the ranks.

Hard to gauge them without steroid/hgh use...some of these super heavies probably weigh 40-50 pounds less and move a lot less explosively. There are some guys who you can put in any era though. Mayweather would probably be held in higher regards in another era if he were forced to fight all the time. Although I have him in my top ten many dont.
