How would a guy like Deontay Wilder, Oleksandr Usyk, or even Tyson fury match up against heavyweights in the 60s and 70s? Do you think these guys would be ranked and who would you compare them to?

    Modern heavyweights are

    Too big
    Too strong
    Too sexy
    Too weird

They'd give Usyk some tough great fights though. Not going to pepper pot Frazier, Ali & Foreman as easily as Chisora or the bodybuilder.

Wilder does his touch of death on anyone not protected by god who are unable to quickly dispatch him.

Wilder gets outboxed by all of them until he lands that big right hand.

The top guys probably do quite well. Those decades get romantacized on the whole but at any given time there were probably 5 guys ranked in the top 10 who weren't anything special. Lyle, Shavers and Norton would be considered top 10 heavyweights for the entire 70s decade and I'm not sure I'd pick them to defeat Wilder.

He was ranked #9 by Ring in 75, his peak year. Chuck 75 should have same currency as Mike 88

They would all have fit into the top 10 rankings, where they’d most likely all have had mixed results, simply depending who they’d fought and how they’d have matched up on the night stylistically.

    You had:

    Sonny Liston
    Floyd Patterson
    Muhammad Ali
    George Foreman
    Joe Frazier
    Ken Norton
    Larry Holmes

There were obviously many more too.

There would have been some fantastic match ups.

Choose each guy, and then see what you think the outcomes would have been for each one.

I don’t think he could have landed it on everyone.
