Probably the most interesting of the Quarterfinals in MTK Global's light welterweight "Golden Contract" tourney kicking off this Friday @ York Hall. The most anticipated was going to be Tyrone McKenna vs. Ohara Davies, but each was allowed to choose their own first-round opponent and both picked somebody other than one another (Logan Yoon for Davies and Mikey Sakyi for McKenna, with Kieran Gething vs. Lewis Benson rounding things out in the QF at Bethnall Green). Mimoune is coming off his April loss to Viktor Postol. This was the slick Frenchman's first defeat in almost six years. Surtees is taking a big step up against the veteran southpaw, but has shown good form running up his 12-0 (8) record domestically. His biggest victory to date is a KO1 blitz over Troy James of Coventry.
Davies-Yoon is the one Im looking forward to. Yoon is supposed to be a top prospect. The French man in his fight though
Mimoune is the dark horse for this tournament but will he get the decisions he needs on an MTK show after what we saw in Scotland on Saturday? MTK will be hoping for a Davies v McKenna final, that’s all I’m saying.
So nobody has been too impressed with the young man, enough that he could have the beating of Mimoune legitimately? Just too soon a leap?
^Saw this disgusting robbery coming a mile off. Boxing so predictably corrupt, it’s why I’ve not really been that interested in watching as many cards as possible since the start of 2020.
