The fighter did made it up though. The round should have ended it.

I think Molina may be wrong. This was a WBC Continental Americas title bout, and therefore the WBC rules would apply.

The cornerman screwed up, but, a disqualification was not mandatory under the WBC rules. Schorle could have let it go, or taken a point off. To use the death penalty of a dq for a minor technical rule infraction which had no adverse impact on Kirkland, after Molina rose at three and the bell had already rung, is what I have the problem with. Entering the ring is simply one of 29 rules infractions, but you see a lot more harm type fouls being committed without refs instantly disqualifying a guy, so why dq for a non-harm foul that was purely technical in nature and had no impact, given that Mlolina rose and the bell had rung and he was entitled to the one minute rest.

I also think it looks odd that Schorle did not dq him as soon as the corner entered the ring, but rather got him out, then completed the count, then sent them to their corners. He did not announce a dq at that time, but acted like the fight would continue. But then he goes to ringside, talks with someone there, and next thing we know it is a dq. That made Schorle look even worse.

Think you might be wrong here. The rule your thinking of is a mandatory eight count not a standing.

There is a mandatory eight under WBC rules. So Schorle had to give him the mandatory eight count for a knockodwn. Also, a fighter is not saved by the bell.

Basically the ref screwed up on many levels. I've detailed many in other threads. Not gonna repeat.

Kirkland was catching up to Molina. Molinas holding was sickening to watch. No, Molina shouldn't have been dq'd, but the corner knew their charge was in trouble, and ****ed up. I thought Kirkland would finish Molina next round anyway.
