Na it wasn't too bad. He was puttin a clinic on Kirkland despite being alot slower and simply outgunned. He was neutralizing Kirklands power. If Molina wasn't getting any shots in and mostly hugging Akinwande style then you have a case, but it was a good back and forth fight with Kirkland coming back strong late in the fight. Gotta appreciate Wolfes honesty and I agree with the world wanting to see the 11th and 12th. A rematch would be great between these 2 I'm just happy the best 154lbers are fighting each other and delivering. The ref is to blame not the fighters for the awful ending.
No no no. It was worse because he wasn't just clinching. He was holding Kirkland's a gloves down specifically, he was headbutting him on the jaw as he football-shoved James back, he clinched Kirkland AND the corner post at the same time trapping him there without doing any actual punching, he rabbit punched Kirkland repeatedly, he hit him on the break repeatedly, he head locked him repeatedly, he pushed his head down and tea-bagged him like a kid playing Halo over and over and probably did even more stuff I'm forgetting to mention. This guy was trying to get away with clinching a dozen times per round for 10 seconds at a time and throwing a couple of punches after shoving Kirkland's hands to his side or hitting on the break. Once the ref started breaking them properly in the last couple of rounds Kirkland caught Molina and had him headed on an express train to palookaville, Population: Carlos "Reverse Dry Hump" Molina. If Molina had fought like an actual fighter (you know, like when he whupped on Cintron and ran Lara close with some but far fewer fouls) he'd have my respect but he was pulling a John Ruiz con-job in there and as soon as legal Boxing ensued James was about to put him to sleep. Get a competent ref in there for a rematch and Molina is either DQ'd by the 7th or KTFO by Kirkland.
Molina was a feather fisted handpicked opponent for Glass Jawed Kirkland and it took a BS stoppage for Kirkland to win. Kirkland is one of the biggest Frauds in the sport today. He has no skills and no Chin. None.
Agreed 100%. And through it all James never complained to the ref that I can remember and he was in the right to as well.
Fighters can not be allowed to hold over and over again. It's cheating. Completely against the rules because it illegally stops the opponent from going to work properly. The referee should have deducted a point, I think.
Lol..."despite the knockdown"...yeah despite Molina getting his **** pushed in, bleeding and not even knowing where he was, he had everything under control.
It wasn't just that he was clinching, but that he was initiating his entire offense off holding and pushing. He got a a lot of clean shots just by holding then hitting when they broke.
You guys can say whatever you want but Molina style was reminding me of both Hopkins and Ward at some point. Very cagey, taking away the power and strenghts of his opponent, fighting dirty at times. I feel bad for him honestly. One thing is sure: Kirkland got BADLY exposed last night.
I disagree because I feel Hopkins normally keeps things within the confines of the rules. I feel Molina's strategy of holding and pushing was clearly something he deserved warnings for.
Maybe he would of and maybe he was about done. His legs looked all but gone and, he was busted up, and Kirkland was finally taking the initiative to bring the fight. I think they would have been exciting rounds.
Exactly, and it wasn't just holding. He was pushing, shoving, headbutting, headlocking, hitting on the break, hitting low, you name it.. Molina did it all. Most of Molinas offense came from pushing down Kirklands arms, pushing off and punching.
I hope that you and the rest of the guys that are complaining with Molina's style are not Hopkins and Ward fan cause this would be a double-standard. What you've you just mentionned, B-Hop and Ward are doing it during their fights. When it's about them, people are saying that they are students of the game with experience but when it comes to Molina...it's unwatchable! This is unfair IMO!
