Molitor vs. Caballero...what a great style mesh-up. Will Molitor see off the puncher?

Both weighed in at 121.6 pounds

STEVE MOLITOR - “This is by far the best 122 pound fight you will see. Hands down, it will be the best. "(Making weight) was easy. We brought in a conditioner and we were on top of things all the way through today. I feel great.”

CELESTINO CABALLERO - “This opponent is nothing special to me. He is average. But this unification is special because I will be only the second Panamanian to do that after Roberto Duran. Up on the podium, I told Molitor that I am going to break his face..”

Stephane Larouche (Molitor's trainer): - "By the time this fight is over Caballero will think seriously about retiring."

I think Molitor has all the tools to outbox the tall Panamian, so no need for hometown judges. In a close fight, of course I see him getting the win as well, but once you figure Caballero out and find your own range and rhythm, it's not an awkward and tough fight anymore.

Molitor is very good, another unification would be nice, maybe vs. JuanMa, and the winner getting Vazquez.

I think Caballero will stop Molitor between rounds 5 to 9. I can see Caballero teeing off Molitor from range. Molitor is a slick boxer but it's very difficult to avoid Caballero's awkward wide looping punches. If Molitor got tagged and wobbled, Caballero can easily end him with long straight shots or uppercuts.

This fight is very interesting not just because of the way the styles mix but also because of the character of the two fighters in the ring. Molitor doesn't press his advantage enough. He doesn't throw enough combinations when he can. He doesn't like to go in for the kill. He has confidence problems. Fortunately, his trainer, who I think is Lucian Bute's trainer too is doing a good job building up his confidence. He will need to fight confidently against a fighter like Caballero who will come in with an underdog's hungry mentality and throw everything at Molitor, trying to take advantage of every bit of hesitancy on the part of Molitor. Fortunately, Molitor is fast, a very good boxer, picks his shots very well and is tough and has a chin. Caballero has a puncher's chance but if Molitor fights a good fight, he wins, whatever Caballero tries to do.

    Odds are, for the win:

Molitor: 1/2 and Caballero: 3/2. I think those are fair odds.

Thanks for all those who contributed in the thread.

Good insights from o_money and Ramon and good predictions from psychopath, but the biscuit goes to buxzer. Good stuff!

Congratulations to Celestino Caballero! What a dominant performance!

A prediction does not an analysis make. Why are you picking Malignaggi by UD? What is your reasoning?

Poooleee will slaps the oncoming rampaging Hatton and then get out of the way. When they're close to each other, Poooleee will just tie up Ricky. Poooleee too slick and fast for Ricky to earn a wide decision win. :D
