For those that haven't seen Ibeabuchi v Tua don't miss it. The most active heavyweight fight ever and imho in the top 5 heavy fights of all time.

Great fight that's for sure, but I don't rank it above the likes of Dempsey v Firpo, Ali v Frazier III, Holyfield v Bowe I and II etc.

    Hey Ippy,

I'm certainly not putting it above those fights (certainly not Ali v Frazier 3) but its up there in my 5.

Larry Merchant's post fight comments are insightful.

"I've never seen two big men hammer at each other quite like that for 12 rounds throwing that many punches..thats extraordinary"

Yeah the work rate was something different, that's for sure.

Ibeabuchi vs Tua is 1 of my favourite slugfests, was great watching it again last night.

What would your top 5 be, outta interest? I don't think it makes mine to be honest. Still a good fight though.

Its hard to compare knockdown laden shorter explosive fights and 12-15 round wars of attrition but mine as follows in no particular order.

    - Ali Frazier III
    - Foreman v Lyle
    - Ibeabuchi v Tua
    - Moorer v Cooper
    - Dempsey v Firpo

Easily could have made the cut

    - Bowe v Holyfield 1
    - Witherspoon v Mercer
    - Lewis v Mercer
    - Ali v Foreman
    - Holyfield v Tyson 1

Ones I havent seen but heard about

    - Walcott v Marciano
    - Jeffries v Sharkey

Watched the Bowe vs Holyfield trilogy again the other night.

I now rate it at least the equal of the Ali vs Frazier trilogy. They just don't make 'em like that anymore!

I'd heard so much about Ibeabuchi-Tua and just got it on dvd so took it to work this week as I knew I couldn't catch it Monday night.

To be honest it was a bit of a let down, we were having a few beers at the bar when I put it on and it didn't retain as much interest as the fights I normally select.

Think I may have to watch it again in a less distracting environment, though to be fair we'd just finished night shift.

There's not a whole lot of drama in the fight, but it's exceptional work rate for two Heavyweights.
